Tin foil hats or better to open......
I read about the HAARP project some years ago and wondered at the wisdom of man... or rather the stupidity of man, his inability to extricated himself from a self-destructive path, his propensity for folly, his ability to fall into traps of his own making. Maybe this is just another one, and maybe it is the one that will break the camels back.

Weapons of the New World Order
Technology will make available, to the leaders of major nations, techniques for conducting secret warfare, of which only a bare minimum of the security forces will be appraised Techniques of weather modification could be employed to produce prolonged periods of drought or storm.

1. None of these things
have any major effect on plate tectonics.

Underground nukes, drilling, etc...It's not enough. The chance of humankind having anything to do with the CAUSE of this earthquake, is miniscule, and virtually nothing.

It was most likely natural. Our real problem is our inability to warn them, the lack of any warning system for the countries, and our government's stinginess.

2. Do you know who Nikola Tesla was, and do you realize how far
ahead of his time he was....

http://www.umf.net/umf/library/1haarp.htm

Earthquake Engineering Project

In a February, 1912 interview, in the publication, "The World Today" Nikola Tesla said that it would be possible to split the planet by combining vibrations with the correct resonance of the earth itself:

"Within a few weeks, I could set the earth's crust into such a state of vibrations that it would rise and fall hundreds of feet, throwing rivers out of their beds, wrecking buildings and practically destroying civilization."

The article, "Tesla's Controlled Earthquakes" (July 11, 1935 New York American) stated: Tesla's "experiments in transmitting mechanical vibrations through the earth -- called by him 'the art of telegeodynamics' were roughly described by the scientist as a sort of 'controlled earthquake.'

He stated: "The rythmical vibrations pass through the earth with almost no loss of energy. It becomes possible to convey mechanical effects to the greatest terrestrial distances and produce all kinds of unique effects. The invention could be used with destructive effect in war..."

In January, 1978, Dr. Andrija Puharich, M.D., LL.D. issued a detailed research paper titled, "GLOBAL MAGNETIC WARFARE -- A Layman's Viet of Certain Artificially Induced Effects on Planet Earth during 1976 and 1977." Describing early Soviet work with Tesla's method of "controlled earthquakes," he stated: "Of the many great earthquakes of 1976, there is one that demands special attention -- the July 28, 1976 Tangshan, China earthquake." Puharich's analysis is significant because it describes airglow plasma effects created by the Soviet Woodpecker system. Ionosphere heating ELF systems, like HAARP, can generate similar effects.

He stated: "The reason that this 1976 earthquake attracted my attention is that it was preceeded by a light flare-up of the entire sky over Tangshan. Also, this earthquake occurred during the first month of Soviet Woodpecker radio emmissions...The most prominent effect was that when the Soviet Woodpecker emission was on at full strength -- the sky would light up like an ionized gaslamp -- just as Tesla had predicted."

4. Many scientists would disagree....
http://www.bariumblues.com/haarp_geophysical_weapon.htm

HAARP Poses Global Threat
The use of the new geophysical weapon might lead to the global catastrophe

A lot of specialists and scientists believe that unpredictable natural disasters and several man-caused catastrophes that struck Europe and Asia in the summer of the year 2002 say that there might be certain global reasons that caused them all. First and foremost, it goes about a possibility of secret geophysical weapon tests. Those tests were either secret or unauthorized. The Russian Federation State Duma spent almost a year, considering the global threat of the HAARP program. The Duma finally prepared two addresses: to President Putin and to the UN, international organizations, parliaments and governments of all countries, to the scientific community of the world, as well as to mass media. The Russian parliament suggested the global banning of HAARP tests. In September of the year 2002 the State Duma of Russia discussed this question and conducted the voting in order to send the mentioned addresses to the adequate addressees. One hundred and eighty-eight deputies voted for the address to President Vladimir Putin, whereas the same subject for the UN returned 220 votes. This proved that Russian parliamentarians were rather concerned about the development and possible use of geophysical weapons.

Given the Dominionist "belief", I wouldn't put it past those powers to ACTUALLY MIHOP :< :< :<

In researching the quake/Tsunami when it happened last week, One thing that went "ping" on my radar was a page on a recently completed study that created the most complete and detailed map of along four thousand miles of the Sumatra Induction Zone.

It occured to me that if Domionist PTB types thought they _could_ do, they just might.

I've seen lots of posts from people who are not geophysicists who refuted early allegations of malfeance, saying the energy released by the earthquake is the equivalent of thousand's of nuclear bombs, which is of course true. But considering the combination of knowing the faults intimately, and all the work done on small nukes in the past few years, its not beyond the pale to think the right nuke in the right place could trigger this horror.

Now even though I've got that metal hat, I'm not saying anything!!!!

But I will leave you with something to google about how deep the neo-cons/theo-cons COULD go: "Vigilant Guardian" "September 11"

How many people have heard A PEEP that there were a number of military excercises simulating the hijacking of multiple airliners going on September 11??

When I found that out, I felt sick.

Of course, the sumatra quake _could_ have been triggered by the effects of the mind-control beams of HAARP targetting Ohio and Ukraine the past couple of months... <- WINKY SMILE!

Geophysical War -- Hoo Ha -- What is it good for?! Absolutely Nothin'! -- Bruce Springsteen

All the best,

FULL_METAL_HAT

btw, the premise of the US sending in the miltary for disaster support is a long and noble tradition. It makes me sad that US Miltiary actually took so long to do anything to help!

One fun thing to do is plot the opposite point on a globe... the first quakes a week before the big one ended up just a little off from Kiev IIRC ... dun dun dunnnnn!

25. Pop goes the Bush mythology bubble
Demand Letter Sent To Bush By Corp CEO
From Karl W. B. Schwarz
President, Chief Executive Officer
Patmos Nanotechnologies, LLC

10-13-4
By Email, By Facsimile to White House
Mr. President,
I am a Conservative Christian Republican that has no intentions of voting for you in this year's election and many other Conservative Republicans are following me.
America demands the TRUTH and not after the elections; this nation demands the truth from you RIGHT NOW! This letter and an identical email will be going out to hundreds of thousands by me, millions by others. The following content was sent to the White House by facsimile earlier today from Ground Zero in New York City.
I demand as an American citizen that you lift the "gag order" on Sibel D. Edmonds and let Americans know what foreign names and what AMERICAN NAMES she uncovered in her FBI translations that were involved in drug trafficking, money laundering and the financing of 9-11. Her facts and your "official story" lies do not add up. Americans demand the truth on that matter before the election.
I demand to know what energy companies were in that Cheney Energy Task Force meeting and what discussions there were as to the steps that would be taken to remove the Taliban and Bridas Corporation as the last remaining obstacle to the United States controlling the Trans-Afghanistan Pipeline. I met that company in 1999 and have known since then about the Bridas v Unocal, $15 billion interference of contract lawsuit in US District Court, Southern District of Texas. I also know about the Fifth Circuit Court of Appeals decision on September 9, 2003 that upheld the Bridas $500 million arbitration settlement and the March 22, 2004 denial of Writ of Certiorari at the United States Supreme Court, Case 03-1018, Turkmenneft v Bridas.
I demand to know how many prisoners are being held at GITMO and other places that are either BRIDAS EMPLOYEES or are persons that know all about Bridas Corporation and what your administration did to get control of that Trans-Afghanistan pipeline.
I demand to know how many board meetings Condoleezza Rice and Thomas Kean sat in on at Chevron and Amerada Hess where it was discussed how they were going to deal with making the billions in "Big Oil" investments into a land locked Caspian Basin and how to get rid of the Taliban and Bridas so they could turn those investments into cash flow. How many times did Big Oil ask for military force to complete a commercial transaction they could not get under their control, and on what exact date did you agree to provide such military force - prior to 9-11? Isn't it true Mr. Bush that the Cheney Energy Task Force discussed that attack on Afghanistan and removal of the Taliban / Bridas obstacle once and for all - and did so well in advance of 9-11?

32. how come

you even pose that question?

OF COURSE the Marines must shoot them criminals, that's what they're for.

Says the CFR:

"Is Indonesia a haven for terrorists?
Yes. Indonesia, the world’s most populous Muslim county, is a vast archipelago with porous maritime borders, a weak central government, separatist movements, corrupt officials, a floundering economy, and a loosely regulated financial system—all characteristics which make it fertile ground for terrorist groups"

http://www.cfrterrorism.org/havens/indonesia.html

and the "Institute for the Analysis of Global Security" warns us:

"Tension mounting in Indonesia's oil rich province
Indonesia's president Megawati Sukarnoputri put the oil rich Aceh province in the northwestern region of Indonesia under martial law giving green light for a major military assault against separatist rebels after peace talks in Tokyo collapsed. The government said the martial law decree would be effective for six months, but could be extended if required. Jakarta had ordered the rebels to drop their demand for independence and agree to give up 60 percent of their weapons or face one of the country's biggest military assaults.
The four million residents of the province led by 5,000 fighters of the Free Aceh Movement (GAM) refuse to accept Indonesian sovereignty over Aceh. During the past 10 years, more than 6,000 people have been killed in fighting in Aceh between the rebels and government forces.
Aceh's population is staunchly Muslim. The rebels have declared that once they gain independence they would declare an Islamic republic far more conservative than Indonesia's current regime. Instability in Aceh increases the threat to oil transportation in the region. Aceh lies along the Strait of Malacca where 40% of the world's shipping passes. More than 50% of Japan's oil is delivered through the straits. Collusion between the rebels and terrorist groups could disrupt Indonesia's oil production and seriously threaten international trade and global economy.

http://www.iags.org/es052103.html#aceh

So I guess the Supreme Commander has finally determined that it's time to restore order.

Even I wouldn't have thought of that.

21. Insider LIHOP with a tip for 9/11 as the day is plausible
but all the signs point to YEARS of planning, and by serious "white guys"... I still lean more towards MIHOP than LIHOP.

Things like the pilots and their "schooling" seems to be a carefully laid cover for something far more sinister. I saw a video interview with Mohammad Atta's white-trailer-park girlfriend whom he lived with while attending the flight school in florida. She seemed genuine in her own way, and mentioned the arabs seemed to have open-access to the school as if they were employees, not students. And she mentioned a particular always-guarded hanger Atta would go into whenever he needed to get cash.

Check this DU thread on the whole thing with links to video!

The energy required is enormous. Hell, most of the time even earthquakes fail to set off other fault lines and that is with far more energy than we can place on a fault line at anyone time.

17. tell that to these guys:
http://ap.tbo.com/ap/breaking/MGBVV280K1E.html

(AP) - A federal facility that pumps salty water 14,000 feet into the Earth's crust probably is associated with a magnitude 3.9 earthquake that struck the Utah-Colorado border this month, an official said.

The U.S. Bureau of Reclamation facility removes salt from the Dolores River, then pumps 230 gallons of brine per minute into deep wells in Utah's Paradox Valley Area.

The process is intended to decrease the salt content of the Colorado River downstream, but scientists say it also lubricates faults.

The facility has caused thousands of earthquakes in the area since 1991, but most have been too small for people to feel. The 3.9 quake, which struck Nov. 6, was felt in Grand Junction, some 60 miles away. No damage was reported.

"We have a seismic network set up for measuring and recording any events associated with the injection process, and it appears this earthquake was one probably associated with that process," said Andy Nichols, manager of the federal facility. "Every once in a while there's a large event felt at the surface, and this was one of those events."

please, somebody tell me this is disinfo to fuel us tinfoil hatters?

this wasn't HAARP, wasn't nuclear bombs, not even oil exploration. it was salt water. salt water caused an earthquake. what could we do if we TRIED?

we caused little earthquakes, who knows what we are capable of? fact is, this is the best we can PROVE. there are no internet links to explain how we can cause a 9.0 earthquake, but dammit, if we can cause little ones, that leaves the door open to big ones.

22. No One Denies That Trifle, Mr. Ray
But you must have some sense of proportion.

You are speaking of an event at about level four on the Richter scale. This scale measures the amplitude of the shock waves generated, and the amplitude at each integer level is ten times that of the previous integer. The energy released at any integer level is thirty-one times that released at the previous level.

A level four event is five integers below a level nine event. Thus the amplitide of the shock waves of the latter is one hundred thousand times greater, and the energies released in the vicinity of twenty-eight million times greater, than in the former. The differences in scale are such that the events, and their causes, must differ in essential character.

Pump the brine at twenty-eight million times the rate, or pump twenty-eight million times the volumn of brine, and you might have something, but both these things are practical impossibilities....

"If a man will continue to insist two and two do not make four, I know of nothing in the power of argument that can stop up his mouth."

and i knew how the scale works BEFORE you told me.

you want bigger examples? there's plenty, and you know it as well as i do, you really don't need me to post links for you. i've found hundreds of links on human induced earthquakes. many from things as simple as moving water around, mining, etc. far from the forces of a nuclear bomb. where exactly then, is the line drawn, at how big of an earthquake man CAN cause?

i simply noted what man can do with simple water, a force many people have come to understand the strength of this week. water shaped much of the planet, man can harness water's energy to do his work for him as well. who knows what HAARP, or other things, are capable of?

If it can happen at level four, it means it can happen. How can you claim there is a ceiling for its capacity? I wouldn't be able to give a qualified answer, I am not a geophysicist, however seems to me if it can happen at a lower level, it can happen at a higher level. Are you a geophysicist?

I think you would need to prove it can't happen at level nine. Sure it may be a stretch from a level four, but I think its more of a stretch to imply there is a cut off or limit in the potential of a nine happening.

I would wager a qualified geophysicist would say it can happen.

35. In Essence, Mr. Shance
You are asking for proof a ton weighs more than a pound. Some operations, involving cartoon anvils, suggest themselves immediately to the mind. To observe that a toddler can push a toy truck about the floor is no demonstration even a dozen toddlers could shove an eighteen-wheeler out of a parking lot; it is not in the least unreasonable to suggest an upper limit, based on knowledge of the available forces, and of the amount of work required to achieve a result on a certain scale. Nor, put bluntly, is any number of years at university training required to see it; though you confess your ignorance of the subject, even this degree of understanding concerning it is readily within your reach. That you seem to have a predisposition towards the belief in a "Hidden Hand" behind all occurances is the only obstacle to your doing so.

16. Big Tesla props to 4Moronic Years
Tesla's theories were so widely discredited by the same US government that has so closely studied Tesla's theories all these years.

An article from the 11 July, 1935 issue of the New York American entitled ‘Tesla’s Controlled Earthquakes’, stated Tesla’s “experiments in transmitting mechanical vibrations through the earth – called by him ‘the art of telegeodynamics’ – were roughly described by the scientists as a sort of controlled earthquake.”

The article quotes Tesla as stating: "The rhythmical vibrations pass through the earth with almost no loss of energy. It becomes possible to convey mechanical effects to the greatest terrestrial distances and produce all kinds of unique effects. The invention could be used with destructive effect in war…" <snip>

Tesla attached a powerful little vibrator driven by compressed air to a steel pillar. Leaving it there, he went about his business. Meanwhile, down the street, a violent quaking built up, shaking down plaster, bursting plumbing, cracking windows, and breaking heavy machinery off its anchorages.

Tesla’s vibrator had found the resonant frequency of a deep sandy layer of subsoil beneath his building, setting off a small earthquake. Soon Tesla’s own building began to quake. It is reported that just as the police broke into his lab, Tesla was seen smashing the device with a sledge hammer, the only way he could promptly stop it.<endsnip>

Slightly OT, but Tesla may well have been responsible for the Tunguska Incident in Siberia.

Tinfoil is the New Reality!

18. what have earth quakes got to do with *weather modification* ?
also: major quakes leading up to a big quake isn't all that unusual
so it doesn't prove it's man-made (certainly not if some of those quakes where in another area half way around globe)

20. Human minds desire knowledge and reasons
Thus when something terrible happens they desperately want to know why. There isn't always a why. But this does not change the emotional need to know why. Thus conspiracy theories are born.

Quakes happen all the time. This is an active planet. Usually they go unreported because they do not affect locations that we in our selfishness are concerned about. But when they do appear in areas that affect us or are so large that they may scare us they get reported. And then people start wondering if they are signs. No. They are quakes. Its what the planet does.

We humans do not control the world. There is not a small group of humans controlling world events. We are at best able to influence the world and hope to influence events. But there are several billion individual wills at play and no one can control them all to the degree necissary for grand conspiracy theories to even have a chance of succeeding.

34. Have you ever asked why quakes happen? I think thats the better question.
I didn't know or particularly care much about earthquakes until I moved to California and was actually in an earthquake. Even then, I was not as interested I guess because I didnt realize we as humans had any direct effect on earthquakes.

Recently and even within the past few months, there have been threads, links to scientific and governmental studies dating all the way back to the 1950's which have approached the subject of earthquakes being a result of man's intervention and destruction of elements of the earth by various forms of injections of waste materials and fluids, along with the extraction of massive amounts of oil and other natural resources, and nuclear testing in the ocean. In other words, our depletion of the earth's resources along with injections of waste materials and other fluids cause earthquakes, because they demand a shift and change in the earths cores which causes logical shifts that will of course shift the earth's outer core. There has recently been posts containing information of nuclear testing affecting weather conditions and potentially tipping off earthquakes.

I dont think it takes a rocket scientist to conclude that something as destructive, invasive, and potentially widepread as a nuclear explosion could not easily affect and/or trigger a shift in the earth's core and/or outter rim.

The other night, as fate would have it*, I had the opportunity to speak with a wonderful women, age 78, who was a geologist by profession and had a thoroughly interesting discussion with her. She concurred that she had indeed been aware of these procedures (didnt have any information on the earthquakes) and mentioned her disappointment that our government has been less than forthcoming on such information.

Thought it was interesting.
