Poll question: Should bush* also lower Flags for DEAD American Soldiers?
Edited on Sun Jan-02-05 07:40 AM by diamond14

bush* has order all American flags to be lowered for one week, in honor of the tsunami victims.

Michigan Governor Granholm orders Flags lowered in honor of EACH Michigan Soldier killed in Iraq.

Should bush* honor OUR DEAD American Soldiers the same as he honors the tsunami victims, by ordering American Flags lowered for EACH American Soldier killed in Iraq?

1. Every "coalition" nation has had a public memorial for their dead troops;
Except the USA.

We must not worry our beautiful minds about the American men, women & teens dead or wounded for bush's bullshit.

If bush, his Cartel, and his rightwingnuts truly gave a fuck about our troops, they wouldn't be in Iraq dead & dying in the first place.

5. you can't change the FACT that bush* ordered flags lowered for
tsunami victims, for a week.

I'd love to go back in time, but that's not possible. Sorry.

4. Are there any other states, beside MI, that lower flags for OUR soldiers?

I have only heard of Michigan, and I know it's made a BIG impact on people there. But, I haven't heard of any other states that order flags lowered when ONE OF THEIR OWN are KILLED in Iraq.

If you know, please post here for DUers info. Thanks.

12. Texas doesn't lower the flag for dead soldiers.
Most places in Midland kept it for an extra two weeks for Reagan after he kicked off.

6. Actually.........its hard to say............
Since the flag would probably not go back up to full staff and if it was a week for each, one would begin to wonder who it was honoring. It would become confusing since most days more than one soldier is killed. We Nationally honor all our deceased soldiers on Memorial Day,the flag is lower to half staff and raised at noon. The President or a Governor could order the flag to be displayed as such. I do agree that the individual states from where each soldier came from should do it upon the Governors orders.

7. Perhaps an unpopular point of view, but...
I think the flag should be flown upside down until we extricate ourselves from this mess. We are definitely a country in distress on so many levels.

As for your question, I agree with the person above. It would be too confusing and would cease to mean anything.

10. "cease to mean anything"
Old Glory has become a political tool. Nothing more. Just ignore it.

13. Well of course, look at what has happened to it.
We've got people worshipping the symbol rather than what it stands for. They'll loudly proclaim the need for a constitutional amendment forbidding the desecration of the flag while in their next breath passing a law that rapes the land we fly it over.
