Why does Powell catch such a break all the time?

I'm watching Powell on Meet the Press right now and this guy is a big ass liar. The truth about Colin is he's just as dirty as any of them. He's been involved in drugs, oil, coups, and illegal wars since Reagan and Iran-Contra, Sadinista days. The only reason he seems to catch a break is because of his personality. He's not dumb like Shrub, and he's not dr. evil like Cheney. But I am amazed at how much of a pass he gets. That's whats wrong with our country, people decide everything on personality. Thats all our elections seem to be about. The candidates and the media just pushes an image and/or a personality.

Meet the Press is just a soapbox. But you can pretty much count on Russert to ask one surprise question. Just one. And every time these guys either lie or avoid the question. Powell did it today. Kerry and Bush did it with Skull and Bones.

5. Tim Russert's show, as usual, was a gift to the GOPers today.

Was there anyone on to defend the Left position on anything? They showed every degrading clip of Kerry they could dig up, ignored the good ones of Kerry being witty & compassionate, while portraying the evil Shrub as a saint.

Oh, and Powell completely dodged the question about the State Dept's involvement with the plan to permanaently detain uncharged "terrorists" in prison camps. I guess he wants to leave that one to Condi.

7. I think it was Amy Goodman that did a poll of left representation...

She said out of 400 guest panelists, there were only 4 true representatives of the left. All the "left" panelists are usually centrists or frauds.
