Did Bush mention phasing out Social Security during his campaign?
Edited on Sun Jan-02-05 12:33 PM by scottxyz
Just wondering. Getting rid of Social Security is probably the most revolutionary economic change to happen in America in a generation or two.

Would have been nice if he could found some time during his campaign to mention the centerpiece of his second term.

1. Link?
I know of privatization reform which, if anybody thought about it would realize that only the CEOs would truly benefit...

But axing it altogether? Give me my fucking money back then, you asswipe* and your cronies who say it's our money anyway. x(

2. He did mention but w/zero specifics or plan-just reform & private accounts
Edited on Sun Jan-02-05 12:47 PM by papau
he is trying to say it was part of campaign - while forgetting the only major ads did not deal with this and indeed the only plan on the table is the under 3% diversion to private accounts. But he did say it was time to change to a wealth creation system - and never said he would retain any part of SS for future retirees after this "40 year transition".

And indeed his major comments were about how he was not going change the system for today's over 55 crowd.

And he made a beautiful comment about how the 2 to 4 trillion dollars for transition would not affect the deficit because it would be off budget (now being repeated for media by his aids - and not by him - indeed I suspect the media that recorded this campaign so well will be unable to find any Bush statement - directly made by Bush - that will be the basis for a Bush said story.

LOL - as our piss poor media today repeated the "no affect on budget because Bush will do this off budget" line - followed by complicated sentances and words to indicate that it was perhaps still a problem. These US Media folk would not say Bush was a liar if Jesus appeared and said that Bush was a liar - and asked them to join him in stating that fact.

Thet would write up the story about how important folks in the GOP say Jesus was wrong about this secular topic!

LOL

:-)

3. ...but, but, but, but, Bush says the Churches will help the needy...
...and they're going to pass that tort reform to put caps on all those suits stemming from child molesting priests!

4. He referred to it as "reform"
But it's always been the neo-cons intention to get rid of it.

5. If he mentioned it, Kerry should have hung it around his neck
"Republicans want to take away your Social Security."

Short and simple.

6. It was part of his deal about "ownership society"
Mentioned in pretty much every speech. Was in a list of "ownership " ideas.

8. hey, you get old, you own it
Take some responsibility. It was your choice to get old. You could have called Dr. K. and easily prevented that problem....

Hmmm. Wait a minute...
