If the Black Caucus protests on 1/6/05 & Democrats dont.... |
|
Will we be in real danger of losing the Black Vote too? We failed them miserably in January 2001, will we do it again? Thinking about Shirley Chisholm tonight, she never worried about what others said or thought, she did what she believed was right for herself and her constituents.
It is almost certain that the Black Caucus will rise to the occasion on 1/6/05, and speak up again, you can always count on them for that. But our Democratic Senators? I couldn't understand their refusal in 2001 and I can't understand it now.
You don't have to be a rocket scientist to know there is something radically wrong with our voting system. It's a mess. And after so many promises that it would be fixed, it still isn't. Listening to people testifying at Rep.Conyers hearings, so many, with legitimate complaints, it's something that has to be faced & dealt with it.
Yet our Democratic senators always avoid it like the plague. Why? Then they expect people to believe they will fight for them? Where is the proof they will?
If we have to go through a repeat of 2001, with them sitting there, well, its embarrassing to say the least. But this time around, I think it's going to cost them more then they know with our traditional base.
What do you think?

1. If the Dems blow off the Black Caucus again this time, |
|
I wouldn't blame black voters if they told the party to go screw itself. And I'll be right there with them.

2. I can't figure this whole lack of Dem support! I haven't personally |
|
talked to any Dems who feel we should hide under a rock. We all, both sides, need to straighten out the voting mess once and for all. There have always been a lot of problems, more in some regions than others. But, now we have more proof than ever before, and with the wonderful new electronic voting machines, there are more possibilities to steal the vote than ever before. The Black Caucus has more evidence than in many years of discrimination in the process. I don't understand all the people who say, they are afraid to be whiney, when it is THEIR COUNTRY at stake. If this party loses the black vote, where will that vote go, and still be able to have a voice? So, I guess what I'm saying is that I'm not worried about the black vote, but I am seriously worried about the voice of all people who seek fair and strong and truly moral representation, when that is what this party is really about. We have a conscience. We believe in protecting REAL freedom, not just in using the word as something we push down everyone's throat.
What are the Senators afraid of? If they are too afraid to stand up for what even the Republicans ought to realize is right, then what right do they have to pretend represent the people THEY SERVE. They have to know what the right thing to do is.

3. The Democratic Senators have One Day to Redeem the Party |
|
January 6th will be the day of re-birth or the day of death for the Democratic Party. If not one, not one senator will stand to challenge the Electoral College vote on that day, the fate of the Democratic Party will be sealed. Sorry, but it is the truth.
Meanwhile, until then, many of us continue to encourage, cajole, prod, etc. our Democatic senators to stand and challenge until that day - January 6, 2004.

5. Byrd would be the only one remotely capable of such a thing. |

These seemingly endless checks and balances were put there for a reason.
