US Marine; "It's kind of a shame, we've killed a lot of innocent people"
Kind of, huh. And is 911 also "kind of a shame"? Not that Iraq or any Iraqis had anything to do with 911, of course, as all but the incredibly ignorant bushbots know. But is it just "kind of a shame" when NON-Americans are killed?

The Economist on the indiscriminate contempt for, and killing, of our Iraqi subjects.

3. As our military community reasons
these "folks" would have died (been tortured, raped, sodomized, fill in the blank) under Saddam's regime anyway, so what difference does it make?

7. "these folks" would die of causes other than those attributable to Saddam
Life carries its own death sentence. By that logic the entire world is fair game.

I guess that's why the US is contributing a mere $350 mil to Central Asia, under extreme pressure. "These folks would have died some day."

I found out what happens to govt. workers registering personal, one on one, contempt for such "logic," by refusing to support a policy that promotes the exact same behavior which the govt. professes to abhor.

Computer impoundment. I got it back though :) , but now "they" are sending me computer virsuses after I'd put a stop to the anonymous messages being placed in my work mailbox. What next? My car keyed? Personal assault?

Fascism is making a comeback in a big way for 2005.

8. I feel sorry for a lot of these Marines
Edited on Mon Jan-03-05 10:15 AM by quaoar
They were told they were going to Iraq to help the oppressed Iraqis yearning to breath free and now they find themselves in a quagmire where they don't know who to trust.

A lot of them will come back disfigured mentally as well as physically. A lot of them will find it hard to live with what they have seen and done.

13. They were also told of a link between Iraq & 9/11.
Bush & Co. never actually said as much--in fact, they've denied it. But Bush keeps using the phrse "since 9/11" in his speeches. And the spurious "War on Terror" links this illegal invasion with the crime of 9/11.

We've got the education & the leisure to learn the bigger story. But these guys (& girls) were fed propaganda.
