Pro-life ends at birth...

Sorry for the flame bait but it's true.

1. it's true
for *many* (though not all) the desire to protect life expires as soon as one takes their first breath. After that screw their environment, health, education, jobs, place in the world and life.

"they want live fetuses so they can turn them into dead soldiers."

22. Carlin also said (during that same routine)
"If you're Pre-natal, you're fine; if you're Pre-K, you're fucked!"
So true.

4. It's not "pro-life", it's pro-FETUS for most of these people...
If they really cared about "life", they wouldn't be blowing the arms and heads off of innocent children in Iraq.

hopper!!
See this thread for a great example of hypocrisy at its worst!!

10. It takes a village
....all the stupid repukes who never read that book, but still spouted off on should read it. It is a wonderful book about how we as a people, are responsible for everyone's children, not just the ones who look like us.

17. My experience as a mom is that it takes at least a villiage
the more help the better.

And I agree that for the vast majority of the "pro-life" powerbrokers, their concerns begin at conception and end at birth.

20. Unfortunately, I agree
As a pro-life (NOT just pro-birth person), I wish that those who call themselves pro-life would take some steps to help with post-birth issues. I'd like to see the Democratic party address things like sex education, contraception, living wages, healthcare, etc. Things like the first 2 would greatly decrease the number of abortions, which would help a lot with getting some of the moderate, open-minded people away from the far right.

19. Funny!
Since I am just starting my 7th month of pregnancy, I am at the stage where I think pregnancy is a very effective deterent to further sexual activity.

(My husband prays daily that I get over it! I did the last time, so I guess he doesn't have much to worry about - just don't touch me right now, damn it!!)

15. Its about authority
The contention of the antichoice crowd is that these are not our bodies to control. They belong to God. We are God's and we are to do as he/she/it commands. If someone is appointed to become a vessel of life they have no control of the matter.

Much of the arguments about responsibility are rationalisations. It boils down to the fact that they do not believe our bodies are ours to control.

16. I'm Roman Catholic...
...and I've been saying for years that the best description of most "pro-lifers" is "pro-birthers." Until I see these groups that are the loudest about getting these kids born actually step up to help them and their parents after they're here, then I might take the pro-life movement as a whole more seriously.

Until then, you'll get no flames from me.
