Dubya's Caring Military & The Evil Tsunami |
|
Did anyone catch the evening news tonight? I'm pretty damn repulsed. Dan Rather casually discussed how Bush was ensuring the US military was at the front of the relief effort in Indonesia to improve the Muslim world's impression of America. Only in Indoesia, though. It's just the 4th largest country in the world and the largest Muslim population. It distrurbed me how non-chalantly they reported such a dispicable political act. Ha. Just a few days ago I was listening to the uber-deusche bag neo-con radio station 700WLW. They were blasting 'liberal' scientists for saying the earthquake was somehow triggered by global warming, saying they were using a tragedy to advance their political agenda. Why not just call the fucking thing a terrorist attack by the ocean. Over 5,000 Americans are gone, more than 9/11. Liberal media my white ass. Fuck everything. Put me back in the matrix.

How our military aid has been used to kill their civilian population for decades.
Yep, this'll sure make 'em like us.

Of course the US military is going to be airlifting supplies and providing mobile hospitals. For better or for worse, we got a ton of equipment and stuff lying around and all sorts of highly trained personnel who would love to move it just for the practice.
The fact that the military is the only government agency that the US actually bothers to give resources to or even tries to make work is troubling but doesn't change the fact that the military is available and is helping.
Nor does it keep us from pointing out that this good the US is doing is a drop in the bucket compared to the harm it is doing in Iraq. I don't think it detracts from the good it is doing to give aid to note that it is only a few days' of cost in Iraq. Or that we are loaning the aid to South Asia while Bush refused Kerry's idea to make the aid to Iraq into loans.
