20+ million of which appears to have been awarded fraudulently to areas in Miama that weren't hit by hurricane winds at all.

edit: 3.17 billion: http://www.fema.gov/news/newsrelease.fema?id=15744

This is more proof how Democracy depends on our participation.

Im sure very few people know about this because the MSM sure isnt covering it. However, if it were under Clinton's watch it would be on primetime.

11. Here's how Dade and Broward residents got $
even when they had no damage. (My SIL works at Home Depot, and they have been telling customers about this program.) If you purchased any "hurricane" supplies once the storm was within the quadrant (usually abour 3 days prior), i.e. generator, plywood, whatever, you can still apply to have your costs reimbursed by FEMA. All you need is your dated receipt. They will supposedly repay up to $800 on a generator.

The southern end of Broward County and all of Dade had NO significant damage from any of the storms this year. I'm in Broward and we lost 2 shingles and half of a royal poinciana tree, which is a very brittle wood anyway. The guy across the street lost about 15 shingles.

13. It makes a lot more sense now!
I should have realized Home Depot was benefitting. Just like the Jack Kahl and his duct tape business, they always find a way to work the profit angle for their donors.

2. $3.17 Billion.
http://www.fema.gov/news/newsrelease.fema?id=15744

ORLANDO, Fla. -- Floridians who suffered damages from Hurricanes Charley, Frances, Ivan and Jeanne, have been approved for $3,169,950,000 thus far in federal and state disaster assistance, according to Florida’s State Emergency Response Team (SERT) and the Department of Homeland Security’s Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA).

Nearly 1.18 million storm victims have applied for disaster assistance since Hurricane Charley came ashore four months ago.

Of those who have registered so far, 842,650 have been referred to FEMA’s Individuals & Households Program (IHP) for temporary housing assistance and/or other disaster-related needs assistance. The remaining registrants have been referred to other state or federal assistance programs, withdrew their applications or were deemed ineligible for aid.

To date, 97.2 percent of all eligible referrals to IHP have been processed and approved for $998,862,039 in disaster aid. That amount is comprised of $469,051,193 to be used for temporary housing and $529,810,846 for other needs such as repair or replacement of essential personal property, medical, funeral, dental expenses and other disaster-related expenses.

3. Yep, he (we) paid for every vote he got in Florida
People in Dade and Broward county where there was no hurricane damage got a big share. Money was handed out like bottled water.

8. Its getting much harder to dismiss. Like an elephant in the room.
Americans need to begin asking "who benefits" from these disasters?

7. I drove past Port Charlotte
A couple of times last week-end. First time I've been down there.

I saw a whole shitload of trailers I assumed were sent down by FEMA sitting around unused off I-75.

10. In his defense....
AND I WON'T SAY MUCH IN BUSH'S DEFENSE, no other country was going to help Florida. That's because they knew that we were rich enough to clean up our own mess.

A better comparison is the billions that we give to countries that either don't need it or don't need it so badly. I think we should reduce that aid so we can give more to the tsunami victims.
