I have to face reality. Mediawhoresonline is gone for good |
|
I just clicked on for the hell of it and the website can't be found.
This is one site that I will always miss. They tried so hard, Bush scandal after bush scandal, to get a story to grow legs, but the media just kept covering everything up and giving that idiot a pass. I guess MWO just figured that it was a futile and pointless venture.
The loss of a great website and a sad reminder of the lunacy of the last four years.

1. I so agree. I loved that website. I kept thinking they'd be back. |
|
Do you have any idea what happened? It was a very popular site. At one time it was implied by somebody on DU that they were working on the campaign and would be back after the election. Anybody?

4. It was the best news commentary site I've ever seen. |
|
I like Media Matters and think they do an extremely important job but MediaWhoresOnline.COM (feels good just to type it!) was a work of genius. The person deserves a seat at the inauguration of the next DEM president.

7. I always had the feeling that somebody 'got to them' |
|
Just a sense, based mostly on how secretive they were about who they were. There was talk about journalists in Washington trying to figure out who they were.
I figured the writers were probably peripherally connected to the political scene, probably reporters or maybe staffers or perhaps lobbists or some PAC or whatever, and that they were kind of stepping outside to comment on the insiders, maybe if they were journalists - their fellow journalists. Kind of like Joel Kline and his book, which kept people guessing for a year who the author was. He didn't seem to get that good a reception once the mystery was over. Perhaps MWO's writer's relationship to Washington journalism weren't something worth the continued risk of exposure.
Or maybe not, but it would explain why they never came out and why they just suddenly stopped and didn't come back.
I loved MWO's style. That style brought alot of people along and out into their own blogs.

Media Whores Online was my favorite political site. I was there from day one.
I wish Jennifer had given us a reason, and some warning.

8. I liked the early days of the site |
|
Especially the Inferno of Whores. That was where could could write your personal fastasy of what your favorite media whore would suffer in hell. It got a little graphic, so they dropped that idea.
