Bush* Clearly Stated That There Would Not Be A Draft...
So, other than the current stop-loss policies that prevent troops from leaving the military, are there any conscription-like options that would compel civilians to serve in the military (without it being a full-fledged "draft")?

Obviously, so that Bush* can keep his campaign promise, they wouldn't even call a draft a draft. I wonder what the euphamism for this action would be.

-- Allen

P.S. If we're currently preventing people from leaving the armed forces by enacting the "stop-loss" provision, can we still accurately claim that we have an "all-volunteer" military?

10. Read my lips: No New Taxes (My euphemisms for "the draft")
Here are some of my ideas for euphemisms to replace a "military draft"

Voluntary Armed Service Requirement.

The Freedom of Defense Act.

Preserving the right to serve.

The Defense Service Restoration Act.

The Right to Serve Restoration Act.

A High School graduation Community Service Requirement.

An obligatory four-year workforce deferral.

Universal fitness and defense training.

The Privilege of Military Service (PMS) Guarantee.

4. In Bush speak, I am sure they will come up with a term like
"mandatory volunteer military service" instead of a "draft".

14. yes..that is how it will happen...and no "act of 2005" required!
As life gets more difficult economically in the USA, the only feasible option for employment for young people will be the military.

6. He's got a man-date now... and how many would oppose him if after
an other "attack on the USA" he'd say "well folks, sorry, but you all understand that we DO need a draft NOW"?

I'd feel safer living in the countryside if I were a US-citizen right now.

7. Keep making people poor and don't create new jobs
That makes it nearly a necessity to join the military to feed the family. Two promises fulfilled at once: no draft and continue to kick the poor.
