Reid suggests that there be a "Tsunami aid" tax write-off |
|
for those who give aid.
(Just now live on the Senate floor.)
Ok, those were the words the tax-write-off Republicans were waiting for.

1. No since being charitable if there's nothing in it for me. |
|
I think that's the basic Republican mantra.
Now, if I can write it off my taxes, well, then, maybe I'll help people who are dying.

4. It sounded like a tax credit and he wanted it pushed through quickly |
|
He just mentioned it in passing, so there were that's about all the details. It would be too crass to get into bill specifics during a tribute to the victims, I imagine.

3. Only if you can itemize though. |
|
I can't itemize: no kids, mortage interest, state & local taxes and ad valorem taxes all total less than standard deduction. I have a ROTH rather than a standard IRA, so no more end of year write off for that. It sucks being middle class and not in loads of debt. I have a modest home, used cars (only owe $2,500 on one of the 3). I can't write any charitable giving. This is for Repubs only.
