More Americans Missing After Tsunami Than Killed on 9/11? Where Was Bush?
Edited on Tue Jan-04-05 05:10 PM by David Zephyr
Only George W. Bush could outdo George W. Bush for callousness and disregard for the loss of human life. Bush's stunning non-reaction during the very moment of the events of September 11th have now been outdone by his days of inaction and silence after the horrific events in Indonesia.

What on earth was Bush doing in Crawford all those days?

Reading the "The Pet Goat" again.

It just took a little longer this time because he didn't have the children to help him.

14. Official a/o this afternoon is 3700, down from 4000.
These are people inquired ABOUT, whose friends and loved ones say they were in the area, but have not heard from them.

On the Lehrer show today on PBS they helmet hair woman really put the screws to the state dept. woman on why in the hell they are not saying "missing", and the woman dodged the question like three times. She said something like "we will only say these are the numbers of people that the state dept. has received inquiries about."

SOMETHING is UP, with this, and as usual Bush was AWOL...in fact, his delay in responding to this is horrible press for him so they are going to suppress the hell out of this story from here on out.

And this # only includes people whom others are looking for, if you are a loner or single with no living relatives or friends who would think to do this, or perhaps were with your whole family and all missing, you are not in this number.

The confirmed dead is either 14 or 16.

21. I don't think the numbers are going to be that high in the end.
Remember, after 9/11 the first reports were in the tens of thousands because people were double and triple inquiring about the same person.

God willing, there won't be many more confirmed deaths of anyone from any country.

5. If he could have ginned up another war over a tidal wave
he'd have been all over it like stink on what-have-ya, but there's stuff in the rulebooks about God's appointed messenger declaring war over designated Acts of God.

6. Bush has better things to do than worry about 5000 missing Americans
150,000 dead, or 5 million in danger.

9. So, what's Bush's death toll of Americans since taking office?
1335 in Iraq, 2,700+ on 9-11, 300+ in Afghanistan, and now 5,000? Hey, maybe he'll hit 10,000 by Coronation Day!

10. is there a confirm on that number of missing?
I thought Powell said he had received inquiries about 5,000 Americans. Some of the people inquired about will turn out to be OK.

16. AND ONCE AGAIN, the story goes into the buzzsaw.
Only talking about this on public tv.

This is a major story, and the other one is the debacle of delaying the search and rescue on the outlying islands and remote areas for a WEEK because of the slow response of Bush and other world leaders. Doubtless Eglund's bidding war helped, but help came too late for many I am sure and we will never know how many died because they didn't even f@#$cking go fly over these islands til Tues. or Wed.,and it was a private citizen that first bothered to do this. People who died of injury, thirst, and starvation because of the slow response will just be counted as casualties of the tsunami.

22. For Bush death never have the same weight.
Irak's childs are feather, 9/11 victims are made of lead.
How much death to equilibrate ?
Tsunami missing one just worth congrete halliburton could sell for rebuilding Asian coasts.

24. Obviously nobody pointed that out to him
Seriously, when this happened, I did not immediately think about the impact on our country that this would have and there was an early report that said something like 8 Americans were missing. And total early death tolls were around 10,000. It took several days of mounting death tolls before it really started to hit home what a long term global disaster this is, at least that was my impression.

The Bush administration is run from the top down (kind of like the Saddam Hussein regime come to think of it) and, my guess is, that it was paralyzed by lack of information into making the leap of imagination required to get on the ball and move. Nobody wanted to be responsible for not acting in concert with the president because of the reigns he keeps on government.

Even now I can't say that I've seen any official word from Congress regarding the disaster.
