Okay, with all that's happening in Iraq,
the governor of Baghdad being assassinated ( http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/middle_east/4144511.stm ) and the number of insurgents surpassing the number of U.S. troops ( http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/world/middle_east/4145585.stm )

How does anybody expect elections to safely take place?

1. They don't, do they?
Even the neo-cons are warning us about what's to come. That's when you know we're in trouble.

3. God's annointed Emperor say (s)elections will take place -
who are we to doubt?

besides - once Jan 30 happens - * declares Iraq is a free democracy, victory achieved, our troops retreat to their fortified bases and content themselves with protecting the oil fields, hence anooying the average Iraqi less and probably killing fewer of them and all is good in the world. right?

:puke:

oh - you weren't looking for a serious answer, were you?

5. NPR today: They are going to let the people of Falujah
vote with provisional ballots, since they have no home polling places, donchaknow?

I think voter turnout will be quite low, since people have been warned for months that they will be mowed down if they are suspected to have allegiance to the wrong party.

A true travesty. Can it get any worse?
