Why do Repukes all have the same weird haircut style?
What's that all about? They all look like they're wearing hair helmets. The fundamentalist preacher class uses the same style.

Pod creatures with monolith haircuts!

Also known as the "Buckley"

I think there's a Right-wing barber in some dungeon on capitol hill who dishes these fuggin haircuts out.

19. "Part hair on the left" - From the Father knows best handbook
I think you were considered a communist if you "parted" on the wrong side in the '50's. Today, parting on the left must be code for "Birch Society, sssshhhhhhh".

The Rethuglican droid factory has only one basic model, with the same hair, paunch, and vacant stare, which they install on their Republican Politician model. The same factory also makes fundie preacher and sex offender droids, using the same parts.

32. This was during the Vietnam years. After Nixon was elected
we figured the Young Republicans were deliberately trying to look like him (remember the photo of Nixon walking along a beach wearing a suit and wing-tips?).

33. actually, I do remember
that photo. That was a man very uncomfortable in his skin. Bizarre. Even my Dad didn't wear wingtips on the beach. What a contrast Nixon was to the effortlessly cool Jack Kennedy. Difficult to believe Nixon was ever president. But, then, it's difficult to believe GWB is president, also.

27. it's the 'sport' cut.
straight out of posh, preppy childhood. belongs on sailing regattas, polo games, and croquet on the lawn (and if born without a silverspoon in the mouth, the 'dreams' of such wasp-y things). and they never grew out of the haircut, they never experimented as they got older, which explains a lot. it blends into the 'distant, authoritarian father' and 'carping, prude mother' archetypes that they feel most comfortable with. the world scares them, they want to go back into the womb and run away from the world if they can. the next best thing is to recreate their idealized childhood as best they can, which means "moral values," isolation and marginalization of all that is different (minorities, poor, etc), and petulant illusions of grandeur with tantrums when they don't get their way. it explains why they behave like l'infant terrible. they need a darn good spanking to set them straight.

39. I think it's based on the old 50s Leave-It-To-Beaver style...
... That time period is pretty close to perfection for white folks after all.... before Elvis came out, before niggers started (successfully) gettin uppity... before an idiotic and failed war in Vietnam.... Booming after WWII.... When the "clean cut" look would make you the apple of your mother's eye...

So yah - I think it's all about hearkening back to the good ol days.

42. "I'm a good boy" hair
is what I call it. Started in the sixties. During the war protests, your hair was like a signal to where you stood. Some, like my ex, would wear their hair deliberately short and trim to show their daddies what a good boy they were. "See Daddy, I would never be one of them hippies, I'm a GOOD BOY". It still kind of serves the same purpose for the repugs who clammor for daddy's (in the form of any authority figure) approval. It's like a Hair Club now, a secret handshake.
