What are your fave rightwingnut mantras that make no sense whatsoever?
Mine:

1. They hate us for our freedoms.

Anyone with a smidgen of common sense could sit all day long typing out why that statement is incredibly ridiculous.

For starters, we are not the free-est country in the world, so why would we be attacked before so many other nations?

So why is bush taking away our freedoms? Is he a "they"?

So did "they" just all wake up one morning and say "Gee, I hate freedoms...I think I'll go attack America."?

So "they" don't actually mind us bombing their kids? Overthrowing their elected governments? Bossing them around? Using extortion? Plundering their resources? Publicly announcing our intent to kill their leaders?

2. We need to fight them over there so we don't have to fight them here.

That truly is one of the stupidest things I've ever heard. I really doubt there is one single rightwignnut in this country who can actually say WTF that is supposed to mean.

"They" can't attack us here because we've illegally invaded & occupied a country over there?

Because we're "over there", another handful of Saudis with $1.99 boxcutters can't do another 911-type attack?

Do "they" know this???

How about the al Qaeda cells already in the USA? Do "they" know that because we're (illegally) occupying a country "over there" that "they" can't attack us "here"?

The Iraqis had nothing to do with 911, and had no ties to al Qaeda or other international terrorist organizations; so if the Iraqis are the "they", how about all the actual terrorists in al Qaeda and other international terrorist organizations? They're not in Iraq. But because we are in Iraq (illegally), fighting Iraqis, this means al Qaeda & other int. terrorists can't fight us here?

Advice for the rightwingnuts; don't ever pick a fight with anyone. Coz if this is really your "reasoning" process, you're already in very deep doo-doo.

10. Vote Freedom First
What the **** does that mean?

Then there's this one:
I saw a bumper sticker on a van the other night that read

"Legalize Freedom"

It was tastefully and plainly designed in a white serif typeface on a black background.
My initial reaction was "Yeah!".

Then I realized that it made NO SENSE WHATSOEVER!Since it make absolutely no sense, I am betting its a Freeper message of some kind.

I'm still scratching my head over it.

They said this about Reagan and they say this about Bush - and about conservatives in general. It's supposed to be admirable not to see shades of gray or to have a nuanced opinon of an issue. Also, you are supposed to admire someone because they never waver from their viewpoint even if its wrong??? That's what I could never understand about all of the people who just loved Reagan sooo much for being that way.

28. That one's hilarious on 2 scores:
1. The majority of republicans who voted for bush DO NOT KNOW where bush stands. And they proved that themselves;

"In particular, majorities of Bush supporters incorrectly assumed he supports multilateral approaches to various international issues, including the Comprehensive Nuclear Test Ban Treaty (CTBT) (69 percent), the land mine treaty (72 percent), and the Kyoto Protocol to curb greenhouse gas emissions that contribute to global warming (51 percent).

In all of these cases, majorities of Bush supporters said they favoured the positions that they imputed, incorrectly, to the president.

http://globalsecurity.com/world_politics/mass_delusion.htm

2. bush is THE BIGGEST FLIP-FLOPPER known to mankind.

26. "homosexuals are the biggest threat facing America"
"They threaten the sanctity of marriage, they are going to turn our children gay, they are going to destroy the human race because they don't breed...etc..."

I simply don't understand why we can't live and let live. It was never a choice I made. I have never questioned my sexuality. I've always been attracted to the opposite sex, and I have always accepted my gay friends.

They honestly think that by allowing gay marriage, or simply minding our own business about others' sexuality, will tempt children to become gay!

So those of us that are straight, are so, because gays haven't been allowed to marry? Because being gay hasn't been accepted in our society? Because "Queer Eye" wasn't a television show when we grew up? If you are straight because of any of those reasons...your not straight!!!! Gay or straight, we are who we are.

Further more, how does the act of two consenting adults having sex, or deciding to get married, affect me and my choice to have sex or get married to another consenting adult? How does Jill and Jane's wedding, disrupt the sanctity of my marriage?! It doesn't, and all this paranoia is nothing more than homophobia, guilt, and hate.

I'm so thankful that I am a liberal, because it would sure suck to be such a paranoid coward.

33. I think I live in the greatest country in the world.
I really do. And I've left the country before.

But, I don't mean it in a condescending way or anything. And I don't think that just because "I" think it's the greatest country in the world that everyone else should feel that way, or that other countries should be like us. I also think I have the greatest family in the world, the greatest cats in the world, the greatest job in the world, etc. :-)

Probably wherever I lived if I grew up there I would think it's the greatest country in the world. Well, with a few exceptions.

On the other hand, I think our Government ranks up there with the worst of them in terms of corruption. I really don't think we're governed "by the people" considering the majority of this country is not comprised of super-rich selfish power-hungry assholes. In fact, the leaders of this country make me want to throw-up with disgust most of the time.

No country is perfect, and even when I don't like the current leaders, this is still my country. We have so many good things in this country and we should always be working to make it even better, to include more and more people in the american dream, to ensure the equality and justice promised in our constitution is a reality, to improve our schools and to always be vigilant for abuses of power.
