2. This is the third time I've seen this photo posted. |
|
I'm getting tired of seeing it.

18. Third time for me too. |
|
And a cropped version was in a national UK newspaper on Sunday. Enough already.

I have looked at this picture a lot in the last week (call me morbid) and I am wondering why so many of the bodies are laying face down.
Is that a silly question?

4. I don't know, but there is a truly terrible one |
|
Of a child on his back with his arms out stretched towards the sky that I won't be forgetting soon (or ever)

6. gravity and gas buildup |
|
Gas builds up in the torso and the legs and arms don't get quite so much gas buildup, so the body rotates face down.

9. No it's not silly. It's the ones face up with their arms frozen |
|
outstretched as if they were just about to grab a hold of something but just couldn't make it.
Unbelievable. Speechless...

last night that some of the rivers in Indonesia are unnavigable because there are so many bodies in them.
Another horrifying image.

10. Might have something to do with how the body decomposes |
|
Perhaps the gasses causes the body to become face down when floating in water.
(Probably been done on CSI but I don't watch the show)

I think the weight of the legs pulls the bodies over into a face-down floating position.

is there any information about which country and/or locality this comes from? i'd imagine most likely thailand (seems there is thai writing on the signs), but was wondering if anyone had more definitive knowledge.

17. The Bush Meme is virulent |
|
This picture is horrifying. However, I think that if we could place all the bodies of the dead from the attack on Fallujah into a convenient 6x4 photo, the "Tsunami More Horrifying than War" meme would loose some of its potency.
