2. Yes, if anything, Obama will be one of the last Senators to join. . .
and he'd be well-advised to keep a low profile even then.

5. You guys have *got* to be kidding.... please be kidding.....
After DU spends day and night bitching about the Democratic Party's testicle-free leaders - you guys now *endorse* that behavior?

doh.

Bold, idealistic, optimistic leadership - even a bit naive is ok. I like it.

Of course, I haven't thought deeply about it - it just occurred and sounded cool to me. I'll be happy to change my mind in the face of good reasons... :)

4. I agree
He's not my Senator, but I love the guy and I want him to go on to bigger and better things. Contesting a Presidential Election days after becoming a Senator is not a the way to secure your future.

7. Kewl - then I don't wanna hear any more bitching.....
... about how wussy the Democratic leaders are.....

You guys seem solid that wussiness is a virtue...

This seems to be right up there with don't-say-anything-controversial-the-media-is-watching-and-we're-scared-of-them...

Unless I'm missing something? For example, is Conyers' objection without any merit?

Whatever happened to fighting the fights that need fighting, not just the ones you think you can win? Has that really been beaten out of DU and America?

8. No way he is going to jeopardize his new super star status.

It won't be worth it to him at this time. He's got stars in his eyes and I suppose he doesn't realize that without fixing the voting problems he may end up one of about 30 or less Democratic senators left in Congress when the repukes get done with their "Democratic cleansing". And who knows, Illinois might find a much stronger repuke to run against him in his next election and with integrity of the voting system completely gone, his career might be GONE also.

Plus, I don't think his wife will let him.

10. lol - I *think* s/he means....
... something like:

Even if Obama himself was inclined to go off on some hairbrained half-cocked idealistic snipe hunt, his wife would be the sober voice of reason, convincing him of the folly of his ways...

12. Yep, ChairOne, and I also think he has a very strong wife.

It was not meant as a disparaging comment about Mrs. Obama. I watched both of them after his speech at the Democratic Convention and you could easily see that she has a MAJOR influence on Mr. Obama. I could see her guiding him in what not to say or do concerning many things in his political career. I call it a good partnership as long as the whole process is mutual and well thought out.

I'm a she.
