Free Republic And "Support Our Troops"

So I'm dicking around over at FR (I like the pain). And I find a thread in which the poster mentions Veterans For Common Sense and their opposition to Gonzales due to the torture edicts. Of course, they're HORRIFIED, HORRIFIED at such opposition. Here, in fact, is a direct quote that indicates how much the "support the troops":

"Got to love these military folks who seem to think their words mean something, that they can sway the minds of American's."

All incorrect spelling is from the original post.

So it seems "Support Our Troops" only extends to those troops who blindly shut the fuck up and don't try to "sway the minds of American's" (ignoring the fact that the troops/veterans in question are already, um, "American's").

Maybe no one ever told them that treating others as human beings, regardless of how they treat us, was the reason for the Geneva convention in the first place. Or rather they would rather prefer to be alive than free. They don't care if human rights are violated as long as its not theirs!
