With some folks talking economic boycott, I figure this might help a little if we all give eBayers on DU someone to shop from...

I sell lab equipment and technical items professionally.
I was selling clothes and textbooks personally.
I like to buy also...I have bought counted cross stitch items, yarn, antique foreign cookbooks, old PC games, vintage patterns etc.
It's very easy to get hooked...lol.

7. My brand new bike arrived yesterday... |
|
Bought it on Ebay. Paid $500 less than I would have at my local bike shop. I've also sold my car, motorcycle and scooters on Ebay. I've have great luck with the sellers and have also met some wonderful people during my transactions.

Have been selling for six years. Could make a fortune if I could find enough stock in my particular niche, which is vintage and antique paper items.
I encourage anyone wanting to earn some extra money to consider eBay. It is possible to open your own business at negligable cost, with potentially millions of customers all over the world. The "store" is open 24 hours a day, you need not invest in physical space, business license, insurance, staff, or even a water cooler. The sky is truly the limit if you can find a niche item.
And for buyers? What great, great fun! Millions of collectible items; millions of useful items; millions of doo-dads and luxuries.

13. Vintage and antique paper items... |
|
...do you sell old magazines (real collectors items)?
My Dad has the Marilyn Monroe issue of Playboy in pristine condition...not that he would part with it. He also has a whole collection of James Dean magazines from the 50's...that kind of stuff?
Please let me know...I buy big lots of stuff and many, many times I come across the unusual. I would much rather network with fellow DUers if at all possible. Who knows I may come across something right up your alley.

14. I don't sell many magazines |
|
....but I'm sure that you can find out their value by checking eBay, if that's what you need to know. Where do you find big lots? I'd be interested in finding lots of old sheet music or postcards.

15. vintage and antique sheet music sells well |
|
vintage and antique postcards are iffy. one of the things i love about ebay is what people will buy, and what people don't buy. at the end of the day, i'm often scratching my head trying to figure out why a 1971 postcard of a particular airplne sold for over $20, while a postcard of the former hudson's building got not a bid
big lot's of old sheet music? heh heh. check with me! ;-) i buy it now where ever i find it! and again - it's amazing what sells and what doesn't! (but most of it does...eventually)

18. I have about 20,000 pieces of sheet music in stock. |
|
But am always looking for more good finds. My best sheet music sale was a piece I bought for $12 and sold for $1100. That makes the seller's heart go pitty pat!

16. My husband and I are products brokers... |
|
....we get calls from all over the world about things that are for sale. Now that I know what you sell I can forward any offers I receive in this area...although postcards might be tough, I know a few people who collect them and they are tightfisted with them.
No...I really don't want to know the value of the magazines, they are worth something to my Dad because of the memories attached and not out of a desire to sell them...but thanks anyway.

...in hearing about any lots of vintage paper items. Foreign pieces would be fun, too. I once got a small lot of sheet music from Romania that was a hoot. But I'm not limited to sheet music or postcards. I'd go for vintage menus, greeting cards, certain photo lots, cookbooks, brochures, travel brochures, stereo views, and many other kinds of stuff.
