CNN Bids Farewell to 'Crossfire,' Carlson |
|
From NPR's All Things Considered Jan. 6,2004--- "CNN has announced the end of Crossfire and Tucker Carlson is headed for MSNBC. Is CNN backing away from the ideological slugfest format? Has this format exhausted itself?"
My Question. Was he pushed Out?
Is he just being a Baby, Post his Jon Stewart Embarrassment?
Is he just a pussy, Running to the safety of MSNBC? or is going to MSNBC because he's such a screw-up? :tinfoilhat:
Or
Did he have no other choices in National Media?

Fortunately, I don't watch MSNBC so I don't have to be burdened with his visage.

6. FWIW, Crossfire just started on the east coast |
|
They're going to do a retrospective of his greatest moments. Makes me wonder what they're planning for the other 29:45...

7. CNN is backing away from any "discussion," |
|
no matter how one-sided it may have been. In the long run, this move will go (effectively) unnoticed by the masses.
It will be so much easier for CNN to simply read from the RovePrompTer without having to worry about who-said-what on a "discussion" show, now won't it?

18. You are correct. Some duer was giving me hard time earlier for |
|
saying that CNN is elimanating its few remaining liberals. That DUer said I should give CNN a chance and not jump to conclusions. Can you believe that?

I remember hearing about that too.
He WAS going to be on NOW w/o Bill Moyers, I think. Think that is still on?
For the record, TC makes me want to :puke:
I think his "Best Of" 15 seconds must have been his first 15 seconds, when he had to explain the "Bow Tie" :dunce:

22. I don't know, in the NPR story |
|
They interviewed the new "New" President of CNN. Sounded like he wants to go in the direction opposite of FOX, something I've been sending them angry e-mail, asking them to do, for a while now.
I might go and re-apply to work there. I had ruled that out in the Summer of 2001 after they "changed everything."
Maybe I can convince them that Liberals want TV News worth watching too. :hippie:

12. Crossfire was probably on the brink for years.... |
|
when they moved it from prime time to 4:30 p.m. CST. It used to be a great discussion show. Then they jived it up, made it more "entertaining" than intellectual, and they put it in the afternoon, where adults wouldn't see it. Clearly, Crossfire was being looked at as a possible cancellation.
Hence, Tucker got a show of his own on PBS. And now MSNBC, I take it. I'm guessing he'd been looking for awhile, and MSNBC made him the best offer.

20. Has Tucker ever worked a day in his life? |
|
Tucker Carlson, Republican lite ... and I'm not talking about his location on the political spectrum.
Tucker Carlson, melding all of his father's relationships into a high profile career.
Tucker Carlson, celebrity asshole.
Wouldn't you like to share stories with him over a few shaken-not-stirred martinis?

21. Who is he? and Where did he come from? |
|
All I know about him is that, back in 1997, CNN introduced this pompous, snot-nose Republican prick, to disrupt the Liberal "Group think" of the day. :evilfrown:
When CNN introduced him to their audience, I think that was the beginning of the end, for me, as a fan of CNN, that is.

both TV and The New Republic to get Slate started. Crossfire seemed to go downhill after that, in terms of intelligent, well-articulated arguments.

Or, did I dream that? If he did vote for Kerry, it says a lot about his public persona being different that his private one.
