2. Most movies are shot in Canada in part |

It's the best way to beat paying the Teamsters who mind the trucks that hold the goods they make the movies with. I have ambivalent feelings about Teamsters despite my own upbringing in a Wobbly-friendly household. I was in the entertainment industry for years and really the tabloid-spawned star system has as much to do with costs, tho not with a movie of this low magnitude. I was a bit actor in Hollywood and New York for twenty years and before the market took care of it, my retirement fund was about twenty-six thousand dollars.
Many of my friends in Hollywood, not actors but grips and musicians and whatnot have spent most of their time and energy the last few years obtaining "landed citizen's status" so they can work in Canada. The Canadian government also subsidizes films shot in Canada using Canadian talent by giving huge tax breaks to the producer. As much as I love my northern bros, the entertainment industry has taken huge hits the past decade because of this. This DC9 flick on the other hand is at the bottom of the content barrel. Why don't they just show a man sweating profusely, hiding in the restroom of a private plane, alternately seeking solace in prayer and a cokespoon. Now that's reality TV.
