Did chronic illness make one exempt from the Vietnam War draft? How about felony conviction? Does anyone here know?

1. define chronic illness |
|
I would think on it's face if one is chronically ill they wouldn't be eligble for the draft...
Felons are exempt too...

4. Flat feet got you an exemption. And felony convction got you out too. |
|
Hard to get a job with a felony conviction. But then, hard to get a job with a degree too.

Remember don't ask, don't tell? I think dressing in drag to go to the draft board for your induction might do the trick?

7. No draft exemptions now. |
|
Edited on Fri Jan-07-05 08:09 AM by LynnTheDem
Most all previous exemptions have been eliminated.
If you're in college, you can finish the TERM, but that's all the exemption you'll get.
Felons are not exempt.
Chronic illness is no exemption in most cases.
You can't seek haven in Canada any longer. bush already closed that loophole way back in 2000.
Female? Hey this is the era of equal rights.
Got kids? So do our "volunteer" soldiers, what's your point?
Nope, bush did a real good job at closing all possible loopholes. Before 911. Things that make you say HMMMMMMMMMMMMMmmmmmmmmmm...

Where does it say felons will be eligble for the draft...
The reason for not drafting felons is most conscripts who are already unhappy about being conscripted aren't happy about serving with criminals...
Also, chronic illness is an elastic term...
Some fella bought up Crohns...
If you have Crohns you won't make it past the first day of bootcamp...

have served their time and should have equal rights restored. I am pacifist and don't want anyone drafted, but I don't like when those that have served their time are given different status.

They'll probably set up some sort of special faith based program, so the rich kids can stay home and do 'god's' work.

14. Guys, please! You're using that "pre-911 mentality"! |

This is the BUSHCARTEL we're dealing with here! They can change any military rules they want, and they've already changed many.
Now they're talking about conscripting NG and Reserves into having to do 24 consecutive-month war tours.
A judge recently told a defendant go to jail or enlist!
Troops with BLEEDING BRAINS have been ordered back into combat in Iraq. There are a lot of troops in Iraq that are being doped to the gills on pain meds to keep them in combat.
You can no longer run to Canada; read the "Smart Borders Declaration" bush pushed thru in December 2001.
We're all FUNGIBLE.
