Falwell's version of Intelligent Design?
(editorial section of the Topeka newspaper on December 28, 2004)

"There seems to be some confusion among the Christian right.
While conservatives on our State Board of Education are trying to advance the intelligent design theory, the Rev. Jerry Falwell is bouncing all over the cable news shows claiming that Christians won this election for George W. Bush, and in fact that Bush was chosen by God to lead our nation at this time.

So much for the intelligent design theory."

1. Let Jerry do all the talking he wants.
Let him empower the right wing nutties - they'll tear their own party apart once traditional conservatives decide they don't want to deal with the fringe.

4. I don't think we need to disregard this group.
They are the reason Bush is in office. To dismiss the enemy is setting us up for failure, and it did in 2000 and 2004. We need to stop running from the fight and take our opponent head on.

7. I'm not saying we should ignore them but there are repubs out there
who have little interest in Bible thumping and would take steps to distance themselves from guys like Falwell.

I'm saying we should help push Jerry along with his agenda and remind America our government wants a secular state in Iraq while at the same time our country is moving to a theocracy.

It's not difficult to imagine that if push came to shove, Falwell's gang would be on the outs with the republican party.

8. As long as they deliver voters at the polls, the repubs
will embrace their agenda. They are the ones that pushed the gay marriage state votes that got the fundies to the polls. What will they come up with next? I don't know, but we need to be proactive about it and not reactive like we have been in the past. I think abortion will be the hot button issue. Check out www.democratsforlife.org, read the articles. They make very good arguments.

3. Screw Faldwell.
Falwell is the biggest prick (umm, can I say that word on here? :)) it has ever been my extreme displeasure to live on the planet with.

If he was on fire right next to me, I wouldn't get up to piss on him.

You know, if "God speaks to him", don't you think he would have told him by now that the type of shit Faldwell stands for is the polar opposite of what God stands for? :)

5. isn't the very existence of Falwell
an argument against 'intelligent' design?
