Why hasn't a Republican thrown his/her hat in the ring? |
|
It has to be crystal clear that Bush is very vulnerable. Why hasn't a Republican stepped forward to take him on? Do you think it will happen soon, or not at all? Hell, even Clinton had competition during his second run, and he was an effective president. Bush is a "miserable failure" and a lot of Republicans know this.
Help me understand.

Any repub that challenges Bush would be committing political suicide (or more accurately, would be setting himself up for political assassination)

5. Because Republicans GET IT. |

With Bush in place, they a lot of what they want, plus the bully pulpit.
With a Democrat in office, they get less of what they want, hopefully none of it.
Another Republican running would indicate a split in the GOP, making themselves more vulnerable to attack.
Republicans understand the meaning of united front--sometimes too well.

6. McCain'd be the one to do it |
|
Some others who may consider it:
1. Pat Buchanan 2. Bill O'Reilly? 3. Bob Barr 4. I've also heard that Ralph Nader might run against Bush in a primary.

I predict that DipShit will have a challenge from the far right. Whether Pat Buchanan wants to give up his MSRNC show to do it, or whether it will fall to Bob Barr or someone else remains to be seen. There are various factions of the right wing who are beginning to hate the Idiot Son of an Asshole as much as we do, for their own reasons. And if one of them happens to get on the primary ballot, I might just have to vote "Republican" again, just like I did for McCain in 2000

But this time I will have to vote for the Dem in the primary. Last time I knew GOre would be the candidate so crossing over to vote for McCain wasn't that big of a deal. This time, I have to vote for who I really want as opposed to the lesser of two evils in the GOP.

They already have the Diebold machines set for a 3 to 1 Bush vote against a Dem. Plus Rove would have anyone who challenges Bush shot.

That Bush is a "miserable failure" isn't news to many Republicans, but no one is going to run against him. They have their own political careers to think of, and running against Bush would be paramount to saying "the Republican Party is a miserable failure".
So, they're riding this dumb ole horse for all its worth and hoping that he makes it to the finish line.

17. Something you must understand.. |
|
..the Republican party is all about loyalty to the party and closing ranks. To run against a sitting president would be political suicide for a Republican. The candidate would be left out in the wind in terms of support from the party in other elections if he lost the presidential nomination. Such unity is one of the big reasons Republicans do well in elections.
