2. Not giving up my party |
|
Anything worth having is worth fighting for and I'm not giving my party and its great history away to a bunch of pantywaists and sleazebags. Look, we could learn a lot from the Republicans after 1964. they didn't whine. They found their core principles, honed their strategy and kicked our asses. Not a bad system to imitate.

12. Agreed. If anyone should leave the Democratic party... |
|
... it's the sell-outs and cowards who've failed to lead responsibly.
I'm a Dean Democrat, and I'm takin' my party back! :hi:

25. Leaving the party for parts unknown is like launching into the ozone |
|
Edited on Sat Jan-08-05 08:39 PM by Rockerdem
Sure its adventurous and thrilling for awhile. But every 4 years, a Republican gets to raise his right hand and swear to screw the people.
Why not work within the party during the nomination phase of the cycle? Thats where we pick how liberal or centrist our leaders are. And its actually the more fun portion of politics, when outsiders like Dean still look viable.
Dont leave the party, leave CNN and the rest. Make those tirds pay, not your allies, half-hearted as they seem at any moment.

|
I am not anything, Ill register for whatever party fits my immediate goals. I was a registered independant, but switched to Dem to vote in the primaries. I am myself, not a member of any party. I will work with whoever supports my goals.

and his declaration is silly.
If we're going to have blowhards like Rush on our side, how about we have ones that focus on attacking the republicans?

15. He can blow hard but he is no Limbaugh. |
|
Malloy has been working hard for progressive causes since the 60s. He has put himself out there to fight for democrat candidates and always votes, unlike Limbaugh, who never even voted for Reagan and basically does it for the money.
How disgusting that you would even compare the two. Malloy is a rare voice of conscience on the radio, and I'm grateful that he's there.

No one can "count" on my vote. They must earn my vote. The democratic party has a long, long way to go to earn my vote any time in the near future.

9. I feel for Malloy, the Dems are a gutless bunch of representatives. |
|
I hope the party has reachec rock bottom, and Dean gets in there to clean house of all the parasites in the DNC/DLC.
That or the progresives look at another party, maybe Dean will get a chance to do that if he is not asked to lead the party, then to heck with the DNC.

14. I'm from WA state -- we don't register as party members |
|
So this poll is not valid for me.
But in CA I was registered as an Independent -- and since I agree with Malloy -- I consider myself an Independent because the Democratic party has left me.
The two Washington female twit Senators aren't democrats.
The party has left me -- with the choice of Senator Reid a minority leader. He is a male chauvinist pig -- and he insults all women.
In the Dem leaders efforts to go right -- they have dumped their liberal & progressive base.
The Dem leadership is in the process of dumping women's sovereignty over our own bodies as a liability -- so next they'll dump gay rights -- 'cause it might bother some right wing nuts. Then they'll dump environmental concerns because it upsets their Corporate sponsors. Then they'll just be GOPig lights -- voila the one party system.

I'm registered independent in my county. But, i am a virulent anti-conservative, and since they've taken over the Repukes, then i'm anti-Republican, as well.

|
Edited on Sat Jan-08-05 04:32 PM by Zinfandel
This way I get rid of the big "D" on my absentee ballot...Maybe, a better chance to have my vote counted.
I will vote for the most liberal progress candidate running, whether it's a Green or a Democrat...Never a fucking Republican, that I would never, EVER, even consider.
So fucking what, I won't be able to vote in the Democratic primary...
My Donations will never, go to the DNC or DLC again, I will donate only to the most progressive liberal person running...I will never send money to a fucking moderate either!!!
I am now a fucking Republican (in name only).

20. I'm registered as a Dem |
|
But the Party is going to have to earn my vote. If I find the Democratic candidate for office is unsatisfactory, I'll either vote for a third party candidate or sit out the election. I can do it too, given that I live in a safe state. That's one of the oddities of having the Electoral College.

21. Will stay registered Dem until next Pres. election. If Dems |
|
run someone who addresses my concerns, I'll stay. If Dems continue to fall down and/or concern themselves with issues that clash with my goals, then I'm going Independent. I say this knowing full well that there is No Perfect Party or candidate, there is only "A better choice" for the circumstances.
I'm disappointed in the Dem party of late. I'm proud to have been a lifelong Democrat. I am proud of what this party HAS accomplished over the decades. I simply do not recognize it anymore.
I don't agree nor disagree with everything in any of the parties. Therefore, I MUST vote my conscience.

23. The Dems will have to EARN my vote the next time around. |
|
I'm tired of settling for 5th and 10th best and holding my nose while I vote for "anybody but repuke".
I'll not waste my energy on officially "leaving" the Dem party - but me and my partner, along with lots of our friends, are considering it seriously for the past month.
We think we'll all register as "independents".
