american pro-torture women |
|
musing
last few days have heard/seen on TV women pushing/agreeing with torture and I wonder:
have they been abused in the past....
what would make any woman pro-torture....
what percentage of women are pro-torture.....
is it a circle? I've been abused so you can be abused too....
it's just so hard to see a woman approve of torture.

2. Probably thay were abused as children |
|
most women who hurt others, like men, were themselves abused in their developmental years. It is no excuse, just a reason

What the hell has happened to this country? 40 years ago we despised abuse and violence. Now we worship it.

to weak people with no self respect can cause disregard for their own moral values if they have any. Read John Perkins (Confession of an Economic Hit man). http://www.democracynow.org/article.pl?sid=04/11/09/1526251Money and sex enticed him do allot of things with the government that he now regrets.

7. Hard to say without some context. |
|
However, the issue is not about women or men or boys or girls or some demographic group supporting torture. It's about how we as a society have changed to the point where we allow, support, endorse, encourage, promote torture, when this attitude has been anathema to our society for at least the past 100 hundred years. (I'd go back further, but for slavery, which in its way was a form of torture.)
While we as a nation may yet divorce ourselves from the current policies, the fact that we engaged in this behavior will go down as this administration's lasting "legacy," and one that will bring shame on this nation for generations to come.
