Will there be an investigation |
|
When (yes I'm optomistic) the next Democrat President is in the WH, will we see investigations into:
The truth behind 9-11
The truth behind the PLANNED invasions of Afghanistan and Iraq (prior to 9-2001)
The truth about the Enron / Cali energy crisis
...or anything else (even the Wellstone accident)
The way I see it, we not only need to win back the WH, but we need to completely and totally discredit these demons now in power right in front of the American public. Go after them with such fury that even the puppy-dog corporate media will have to pay attention, and they will be unable to mount any counter-offensive.
Of course, the BFEE would probably arrange "terror attacks" on our own soil often enough to keep the new Pres off balance.
Or am I way off base here?

1. I want to see Bush and Cheney in jail |
|
but I think the next Democratic president should have as his first priority to straighten out the mess Bush has made with our economy and Iraq and other foreign policy.
As much as I want Bush out and a Democratic president, I know that we need at least a Democratic Senate if not a Democratic House to investigate the past transgressions of the Republicans. A president's power only goes so far.

2. We may have to fight for it... |
|
We cannot allow whoever is elected, to NOT investigate, and prosecute, under some excuse like "national healing", or some other lame crap. We, the people, are going to have to demand justice. No pardons either! We need to go after the whole bloody lot of them, and this includes the media mega-corporations, and clean up this country, top to bottom. As long as they are allowed status quo, our nation is at risk.

It's been so bad the last few years I don't EVER want to see these types in power again. The planet won't take much more of it.

"We cannot allow whoever is elected, to NOT investigate, and prosecute, under some excuse like "national healing", or some other lame crap. "
Sweeping stuff under the rug like this is a disgrace to our country. It doesn't promote healing, it promotes heels!
Sometimes you have to hurt in order to recover. It is like having a boil lanced, so it doesn't fester under the skin and let the infection travel and kill you.

5. Depends on two things - if the repubs still control the House |
|
and how many and what kind of amnesties Bush hands out before he gets kicked out. Bush I amnesties are what stopped the investigations into Iran/Contra. And of course, the Democrats have to want it too. They didn't do much to hammer Reagan and Bush the first time.
I read a book about Kennedy and it was said that the reason they had to cover so much up is that if the public knew what they were doing, they would loose all respect for their government. So it is more important to lie and cheat and keep the people happy then tell the truth. This apparently goes for both parties. Like Michael Moore said, there are two parties for corporate America. We the people need our own party who's first priority is us, not corporate America.

7. We have allowed corporate infiltrators into our party. |
|
Hopefully a Democratic leadership in the White House will pressure them out and get us back to the roots our party has stood for, the rights of the working person and the ideals of the liberal minded.
Congress will be a stumping block if the Republicans are still in charge. I think that the GOP should be investigated as well. I can't believe all conservatives are lying dirt bags like that guy Gillespie, who is the chairman of the RNC. I think they too have had their party hijacked and need to do some vermin extermination as well.

8. Look, there is really zero chance of this -- ZERO. You are indulging in |
|
wishful thinking, just to imagine that there's even a chance of these things taking place.
The Democrats are not the party of "good" doing noble battle against the forces of darkness. The best one could say is that there are maybe a few dozen Democrats really fighting that kind of battle; the rest of them -- and that's most of them -- are more accurately viewed as collaborators & accomplices of the Republicans. They have basically the same disease -- they represent the ruling elements of US society, not the interests of most Americans.
Let's take the example of investigating 9-11. Soon after 9-11, Bush & Cheney let Daschle know that they did not want any investigation, or at least not a full and independent one. Daschle was willing to assent to this. Why? Because he is not really interested in anything that might irreparably demolish the credibility of the US leadership & the society's ruling elements. He would of course prefer to have Democrats in power -- but not at the cost of great harm being done to the prevailing social order. To Daschle, or to the typical Democrat, defeating Bush in an election is one thing; but destroying him in a way that introduces instability into US society is something very different. Most Democrats won't touch the latter of these things with a ten-foot pole.
They are defenders of the established order, first & foremost. They only advocate the kind of teensy limited change that doesn't step on the toes of the powerful; that doesn't scare anyone; that doesn't threaten anyone. Picturing them as "fearless defenders of truth" is just fantasy.
