Is it time for a total boycott of the Mainstream Media?
In light of Armstrong Williams being exposed as a paid propagandist, and CNN's attempted white wash of it on Crossfire, is it time to boycott corporate media outlets?

3. Very little of my news comes from the corporate media.
Been that way for years...I do find the Los Angeles Times one of the better newspapers...They carry Robert Scheer for starters...have been snearing at GW all electoral season..Not that they are perfect..
Today's story on the Boxer rebellion yesterday in the Senate, got like page a-23 coverage..Our home town senator..
But most of my news sources comes from the Net like Wm. Rivers Pitt, indy news like the British Guradian or Independent..Of course, the Nation and a favorite " Democracy Now " on Free Speech tv thanks to Satelite..

5. I've been "boycotting" the MSM...
Edited on Fri Jan-07-05 05:41 PM by KansDem
Local news since about 1984...

National news since CBS brought on Connie Chung to "co-anchor" with Dan Rather (I think is was 1993)

It REALLY is a nice, pure, clean feeling to be free of these wretched beings!

on edit: However, it IS important to "know your enemies," so I applaud all DUers who watch these bimbos and then report back here...

Yes. I have not watched MSM since November 2. Amazingly, I have not missed it or any important news. There are tons of other sources.

10. How do you boycott network news outlets?
I was under the assumption that their operations are totally subsidized by companies that purchase advertising space on there. Wouldn't it make more sense to turn the screws on these companies that choose to advertise on these channels than to simply turn off the television?

14. I get very little news from MSM...Read opinion page of WP.
Last night in a grocery store, some guy was trying to sell subscriptions to the Arkansas Democratic Gazette (state-wide paper). I told him, "No thanks, you'd have to pay me to read that hate-filled propaganda sheet."

15. Been there/ still doin it.
TV is only good for sports, discovery, history, not news. I've been watching political TV since the 70's, and it's never been as bad as it is now. I stopped after this election. I do watch Olberman, but he is not MSM, IMHO.

Will they care that I'm not watching? I seriously doubt it. Alleviates a lot of my stress, though, that's one big plus.

I've turned off the Corporate media -- I use the Internet and have for about 2 1/2 years -- I am better informed than anyone who relies strictly on the Corporate media as their news source.

22. Punish the Press
Punish the press for their piss poor performance in the last
election.

I propose we Focus on one day, January 20. While they may be
expecting a high viewing audience because of the festivities
of the day. I suggest that we start by a flash strike
on all of the broadcast tv media. The entire day, leave the
tv off.

This would complement the "not one damn dime day"
No spending on Jan 20

Pass it on.

we only watch NBC for Conan O'Brien, and sometimes a Colts game will be on CBS. Other than that, tv's off. Screw MSM and all of these trashy shows they have these days.

I cancelled mine right after the election, and I only listen to public radio now. We have three public radio stations in the Twin Cities--I also tune into the college AM station once in awhile.

Listening to short wave opened the world up to another perspective. Later came the Guardian Weekly to supplement it. Finally that Internets thing came along. Who needs the main stream.

I began boycotting on 11/3. After the tsunami I watched 5 minutes of CNN and my blood pressure starting going up. Other than that I don't watch any MSM. Ever. It's not even a boycott to me anymore. I seriously have lost my desire for their "product."

39. LONG past time.
Everyone, do like me. Cancel your cable or satellite service. Then write emails to ALL the major networks AND your dish or cable provider letting them know EXACTLY why you cancelled.

We've got rabbit ears, we get local channels. And I've got the internet anyway.
