HOLY SHIT! Sinclair intimidating PETITION SIGNERS
Edited on Fri Jan-07-05 07:08 PM by Proud2BAmurkin
What a bunch of fuckin SCUM. Count me among the BOYCOTTERS of Staples and any other Sinclair sponsor.........

http://biz.yahoo.com/prnews/050107/phf019_1.html

Although Sinclair respects the rights of these organizations to voice their opinions, we find inappropriate that their tactics include advocating their constituency to contact our advertisers in a blatant attempt to use economic pressure to censor the speech of Sinclair. Moreover, the continued misrepresentation of the facts surrounding any company's advertising practices regarding Sinclair stations constitutes "trade defamation" which would entitle Sinclair to seek damages in a court of law. Sinclair will aggressively pursue any organization or any individual which engages in such defamation, including individuals who lend their names to mass e-mail campaigns spreading such misinformation.

Hey Sinclair. FUCK YOU.

2. Is "trade defamation" an actual legal term
or just some bullshit they're trying to peddle off as intimidation?

7. Also that censorship means government.
Maybe they can ask Armstrong Williams how he got a cut from dubya if too many advertisers pull out. Oh wait, they probably already do get a little money for their propaganda efforts.

Staples, the largest office products retailer and a major advertiser, announced on Tuesday that they are pulling all of their ads from Sinclair. Staples spokesman Owen Davis specifically named the emails they were receiving complaining about Sinclair's political activism. Media Matters for America did a fantastic job of leading the way and we are achieving victory. We must all recognize that perhaps our greatest weapon these days is our combined economic strength and we need to continue to wield it. The Right will try to answer and blunt that weapon and anything else we come up with that is effective. That is what this action is. We cannot be deterred. We need to remain on the offensive.

The recent creation of BuyBlue.org and Choose the Blue over the past few months probably has them even more concerned. (If you have not checked out these sites, you should.) We may not have the Senate, House or presidency, but we spend a hell of a lot of money. That is a potential source of power waiting to be harnessed.

Also, Sinclair is facing shareholder lawsuits because their actions led to the devaluation of their stock. Sinclair is a public company, so it is unethical for their officers to pursue a personal political agenda if it is detrimental to the value of their shareholders stock. Sinclair's directors are obligated to protect the shareholders and recent judgments against the Enron and in particular the Worldcom boards have resulted in record cash judgments against directors personally. They are trying to defend themselves by attacking our actions. Cute but predictable. It certainly could muddy the waters enough to defend them. It also probably puts other advertisers on notice that Sinclair will fight them in court if they try to void any contracts they have for future advertising on Sinclair.

These people are used to winning. They are not going to roll over just because we win a few battles. We have to remain together, undeterred and focused.

19. Staples told me they stopped their Sinclair ads because of our emails.
Honest to god, they did. Sinclair is losing clients.

So, are we so sure our efforts aren't helping? I think we're doing as well as can be expected, right now.
