Pale Male
does anyone know the status of Pale Male, the red tailed hawk that was kicked off of his home on Paula Zahn's building on Central Park, NYC, by decree of her husband?
Seems the news has nothing to say about the fate of Pale Male. I know that politically the building was forced to put up something for Pale Male and his wife Lola, but I haven't heard if they have given up or have come back to their home.
Anyone know?

1. I've heard a couple times that they're back...
This is from the NYPost, so take it for what it's worth:

2. I thought I read that he was able to move back into his nest.
It appears there were other celebrities like Mary Tyler Moore, who seemed to have more clout than Paula Zahn and her husband, who rallied around for the hawk.

The woods behind my house have three nests and three families of Red Tail Hawks every spring. They are magnificent to watch especially when they are courting.

3. Pale Male has his own website
Go here: http://www.palemale.com

From where I sit, he's fine. Nesting structure is back up. Paula Zahn and her husband are relieved -- the negative PR was hurting her "image."

6. The Rich People
Didn't like seeing the remains of birds and rats that Pale Male ripped to pieces and dropped from his nest onto their doorstep for them to see as they walked from their limos into their doorman building.
I suppose if Pale Male were a human he'd be on death row. But, he's a red tailed hawk doing natures call.
We humans who like to think we are protected from the vicissitudes of life think we are protected, but life is vicious. Look no farther than the tidal wave in Indonesia to know we only think we are safe from horror.

10. They do a service.
In our area they keep the rodent population under control. I'm sure in NYC they keep the pigeons and squirrels from breeding too much. I have watched them do a kill. It's a strange thrill because they see their prey from a very high place while soaring, but when they go in for a kill, they do a dive bomb that is so fast and sudden, the poor mouse really doesn't know what hit it. Incidentally here in the country the remains that are thrown out of the nest are usually quickly mopped up by crows.

I'm somewhat confused by the nature, value and purpose of Rich People and well acquainted with the mess they make.
