Better to email rational members of the GOP and inquire why this is OK in WA state but looking into abuses of voters' rights in Ohio is not a good way to defend America. And then ask them when they are gonna wrestle their party back out of the clutches of the Right Wingers who are subverting everything this nation values.

Why waste time talking to neocon poster boys? Communicate with those who value America instead.

What could one hope to accomplish besides making it easier for that person to dismiss his/her opposition as 'just a bunch of hot heads'?

Go ahead and write the vicious letters with all the passion you need to vent, just don't send them. When your blood pressure gets back to normal, write powerful and well thought out arguments and expressions of your position and passion. Those are the ones to put in the mail/email.

Of course, it's fine to share your spleen venting diatribes with your pals at DU ;) We all need to clear out the emmotional clutter from the rage we have to deal with. We can do that more constructively with our little community here.
