Indonesia is a major oil producer, yet gasoline prices did not spike

I am not a conspiracy theorist, but usu sally, the slightest glitch of supply causes a spike. What gives?

1. who owns the Indonesian oil?

I would assume Royal Dutch Shell...and aren't they one of the few oil companies that isn't totally in the Bush camp?

2. Tourists did not get warnings, but I am sure oil producers did.

That would be the only logical explanation in my mind.

to cover any long term affects they would have had to have had several weeks warning, which is impossible

I believe most of their oil production is not on the Indian Ocean side of the islands and would not be affected. If anything they would increse production to offset the damages. Furthermore compared to Saudi Arabia, Iraq, The gulf States, Venezuela and Nigeria they are a small producer that supplies mostly regional markets

5. You are correct

If I recall most or all of the oil fields are on the northern part of Borneo facing Vietnam and the Philipines. So they received no damage at all.
