Give to the wrong tsunami relief fund? NO TAX DEDUCTION FOR YOU!
---snip---
IRS spokesman Larry Wright, however, said donations to foreign charities are not tax deductible, except when the organization is an administrative arm of a U.S. charity or a U.S. group controls the funds. Wright said there is also an exception for some Canadian, Mexican and Israeli organizations.

1. You know you're a republican if....
... the only reason you give to charity is to receive a tax deduction.

5. It's not the only reason anyone gives
it's a deduction, not a credit. No one profits or even draws even from giving money to charity. The point is, does the government was to use the tax code to promote worthwhile causes. The answer here is evidently not. Now, of course you can deduct the biggest, nastiest SUV on the market. Apparently air pollution and using great quantities of imported oil is something they do want to promote.

4. I gave through my company's program.
They offered to match whatever we donated, so the relief effort gets twice as much as I gave, which is pretty cool. If your company has a matching gift program, see if they opened it up for Tsunami Relief.
