Fahrenheit 9/11 Will Win Best Picture (People's Choice Awards) Yay!
Edited on Sat Jan-08-05 01:12 AM by Cheney Killed Bambi
Good News!!!

NEW YORK CITY (Jan. 7, 2005, GoldDerby.com) -- George W. Bush may have been the American people's choice for President in 2004, but the People's Choice Award for the Favorite Film of 2004 will go to his political nemesis this Sunday night, GoldDerby.com has learned.

At the ceremony to be telecast Jan. 9, at 9 p.m. (EST) on CBS, director/writer Michael Moore will accept the prize bestowed upon "Fahrenheit 9/11" by TV "President" Martin Sheen, star of "The West Wing."

GoldDerby has learned that Moore was tipped off ahead of time that his film beat other nominees "Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind," "The Incredibles," "Shrek 2" and "Spiderman 2." Apparently, that's why Moore mysteriously chose to ditch his earlier plan to attend this Sunday's gala dinner of the New York Film Critics Circle, which had planned to give him their award for Best Documentary, a victory announced on Dec. 13. Now rumor has it that Miramax chief Harvey Weinstein -- who organized "Fahrenheit 9/11's" indie patchwork distribution -- will attend the Roosevelt Hotel gala to accept on Moore's behalf.

And yes he gave us all the ammo we needed.

4. Michael Moore is my hero.
F 9/11 is one of my favorites, if only it were a film and documentary.
I love all of his documentaries and television shows. Especially loved his short for the Awful Truth called "The Choice," wherein he and his crew ran a fiscus plant against an unoppose Repub Congressman and Pennsylvania in 2000 election.
God bless Michael Moore, his hats make me happy!

7. I've watched it four times ...and each time it still reaches in and rips
out my heart and pulls on the outrage ....

I think this is too funny as the Repugs will be whining and gnawing on their tv remotes ....gee, even in the election contesting yesterday, Michael Moore got attacked by Repugs. They hate him!! I love it!!! He's more popular than they are!

And I am still meeting people who just watched this movie ...

8. Micheal Moore drives Republicans nuts
He laid out large parts of their agenda for people to see. Now, as they implement this agenda, it will be on record just how right he was.

9. Um, like, is this like an exit poll?
Maybe this "leak" is true, or maybe it ain't, but if so -- doesn't it make it ever more bizarre that Bush "won" the popular vote?

I guess the Bush Crime Family couldn't be bothered with the People's Choice Award, having stolen the Oval Office two times in a row; maybe they should have fixed that too? Because isn't it a little weird that Bush won, and Mel Gibson glorified -- yet MM win HERE again?

His Chimperial Highnesses' approval rating is as 48% after his "re-election"-- a historical low. Funny how historical precedent has it that unpopular president who somehow manage to get re-elected get impeached in their second term....

Sorry folks -- if Fahrenheit wins over The Passion -- I feel some serious analysis is in order, and I predict some quantification of bullshit will result.

26. It's called massive voter fraud. Bush has a solid 28-32% of America
Add a few 100 votes in this precinct and that one all over the country and soon you have enough to tip the scales.

I do not wish to diminish the effectiveness of F9/11 at all but Bowling for Columbine was a better flick. Sincere mofo kudos to MM, though for having dem big balls!

15. Amazing, bizarre, repulsive, outrageous and sad.
The defining moment in Fahrenheit 911, for me, was Bush's quip on the golf course, donning his 'serious face' to 'seriously' urge all nations to fight terrorism. And in the same breath finish with, "Now watch this drive". Such quips, Bushisms and tortured logic define Bush's character and/or his public persona as fraudulent.

The republican party machine, upper-level members, its media punditry, prominently display this sort of fraudulence and deceit.

Bush did not win honestly, has not and will not govern honestly. Meanwhile, republican rank-n-file will continue being led to believe falsehoods, led to disbelieve their own eyes and ears. Pat Buchanan called Fahrenheit 911 the 'Biggest Lie of the Year' on McLouglin Group.

Deceit is indeed the worst form of lying. It's amazing the way the party of high moral values and religious piety wins the power to profit, wins priviledge, luxury and obsequious adulation. Amazing, bizarre, repulsive, outrageous and sad.

13. Moore is the man
Downsize this is the first Moore book I read, After watching Bowling for Columbine I was hooked, I love the way Moore goes balls deep into the Culture of the USA and the corporate world, I have always been intrested in politics/current events etc... But it is Moore who showed me how important and relevant it is and how you just can't shrug off 'the man'

I really hope Moore wins, he is very important to the peace loving people of the world

17. Well , since only people who wouldn't vote for Bush
would have voted for this film on the Peoples Choice Awards, does that prove fraud in the Presidential election? They must have counted the votes! Actually, seriously, isn't this odd ,considering the "majority" of the "people" supposedly hate Moore as much as they love Bush?

23. Moore rigged the on-line vote by campaigning for it way more than
the others did.

The People's Choice Awards are a giant joke anyways. They give Mel Gibson and Julia RobertsBest Actor/Actress every year, even when they haven't appeared in a single film.

21. Michael is a strong man. He deserves support from his admirers
By God, he's got more courage than all the neocons put together. Scratch that. More courage than all the REPUBLICANS put together.

How many Republicans have you ever seen who have been willing to take a lonely, public stand against someone who has the backing of a powerful, wealthy, murderous, controlling class?

Kinda reminds a person of John the Baptist back in the Bible the religious looneytoons love to wave around (without reading enough to understand it!).

May Michael live a long, accident-free, healthy life.
Keep shooting those films, Michael!

25. Michael Moore F9/11
Edited on Sat Jan-08-05 11:31 AM by malaise
has had a profound influence on American society. So has Nader - a man of impeccable integrity and decency.
Since most rational people know that something went 'radically wrong' on Nov 2, Dumbya et all have a rude awakening coming. There will be exposure after exposure and several interests groups will publicly let them know that they cannot be bought like the 'impression managers'.
Moore opened eyes across the US and the globe. It was the first time millions were forced to think in ages.

I like empirical evidence and it seems to me that given Ws ratings, the chaos in Iraq, the shady appointments, and the wide suspicion across the US that something went wrong and something dangerous is going on, it will not be happy days for this bunch. Privatizing social security will be a serious political error. It will bring more angry people together.

The problem with greed is that the greedy never know when to stop and therefore self destruct. The unpopularity will grow exponentially and he already is the least popular second term Pres.

Expose the rest of the 'presstitutes' - who was or is on the take. I am sure more than a few are shaking right now as one of their own goes down. Get out the popcorn and watch them crumble.

Moore has opened eyes and minds and even MSM can't stop the process. Daily they are being challenged by the public - their credibility has long been shot, but now people who didn't know this (don't ask me why) understand for themselves thanks to Moore.

Farenheit 9/11 is seminal work - an absolute classic on several levels. I must have seen it at least 10 times. It is brilliant moreso for it's simplicity of style.

Moore is a genuine man of working class roots who never lost his soul and never forgot his roots. In F9/11 he is speaking directly to his base across the globe. I can only think of Bob Marley, Sam Cooke, Lennon and Spike Lee(in recent times) who were also able to communicate with a local and global audience without effort.
Moore should have been the only candidate for Time's Man of the Year. I hope he wins the Oscar - he deserves it and it will be a hell of a statement.
