|
I'll see what happens at the center of the party. If they pick another DLC milksop, I'm gone.

Raised by Democratic parents and I will die as a Democrat. The DLC will not make me go away, piss off or otherwise be anything else other than a Democrat and stand for Democratic principals. It's MY party too dammit!

I come from a long line of NYC Democrats. We have to remember that the DLC gave us Bill Clinton, my favorite President (with a capital "P") during my short lifetime.

Democrat when I do; I've always been an independent who stands with both the Democrats and Greens, I'm not one of the new party-switching people.

I turn 18 in just under 2 months. I plan to register as a Democrat.

7. Hmm. I don't believe you really "register" as one party or another in TX |
|
You register to vote and pick one party's primary to vote in. They stamp your voter card as Republican or Democratic at the primary and that will be required if there is a primary runoff.

9. Yep. And in 2006, I might vote in GOP primary, to vote against Rick Perry. |
|
There's rumor that Kay Bailey Hutchinson will run against him. Perry is George Bush with a better haircut.

you only have to declare your party affiliation if you vote in the primary. You can do this at the polling place when requesting a ballot (ie. for Dem. or Rep.).

8. My explanation is simple |
|
I registered with no party because I registered this year. I figured that if I was a registered Democrat, they would find some reason to mess with me at the polls. I was registered at 18 in 1990, and I voted, but then I fell asleep. I woke up again in 2000.

It helps us weed out the REALLY SCARY right wingers here in Indiana who would otherwise win without the huge gay vote (in our college town) and their allies.

I have a friend who volunteers for the Dems ceaselessly (who is also the VP of our Young Dems group) who is a registered Republican. She says its so she can vote for Donald Duck in the primaries.

SC doesn't require you to declare a party affiliation when you register to vote. It's one half-way decent thing about this state.

here in MN. Just do a general registration, and you do not have to fill in a party.

20. When I first registered, a few years ago.... |
|
Edited on Sat Jan-08-05 08:33 PM by DemGirl7
I registered as an Independent...because I wanted to copy off of my older sister, but within the past year and half to two years ago I re-registered as a Democrat, because I really got into the political procress and I wanted vote in the presidental primaries, and more recently I've decided that after college I would like to actually work for a political party and it's the Democratic party that seems fit me, more than the Greens or anyone else. Plus ago I was more or less raised in a Democrat family, in heavy Democrat area. Even though my parents never really got into politics, they started actually voting around the time I was born in the early 1980's, but they were always pro-democratic party and my older Sister, who is a Independent, is a more left-leaning Independent. I'm the politics geek in my family...I'm the one who is always saying that voting is greatest thing in the world and everyone should do it.

Nothing can explain these figures away. And several corporatists want us to believe all is normal and nothing needs revision.

you do not register a party affiliation. When you go to vote in primaries, they ask you which one you want to vote in, and set up the machine to only allow votes in that party's primary.
