He was on Alan Colmes radio show a couple days ago. I didn't listen, but read about it.

Colmes of course, gave him a bad time. When Phelps asked him why he bothered to have him on the show, Alan said that it was better to expose his actions in the public eye than to have him doing harm behind the scenes.

Phelps ended by calling Colmes a "sick Jew". When Colmes opened the phone lines he told listeners to call 866-sick jew.

people saying on talk shows and the like that in the bible it says that being gay is a sin...but the bible also says "Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself."...I take that as loving everyone as an equal...

so which is it...is the bible being hypocritical...?

or has people like Falwell and the like corrupted the word of God...?

5. that's right! so why does the religious right hate gays?

Having spent a few years at a conservative Bible college, I have often wondered why the religious right derives such energy from three or four verses in the Bible about gay sex. They have all been disproved by PHD's who study the Bible, yet the right wing continues on.

I think the reason is because throughout history (after I left the Bible college I received a degree in history ;-)) the religious right has always had some group to go to war with. It is how they gain power from their followers. If there is an enemy to fight, people will sacrifice and follow blindly.

Since I am gay I guess I get to be one of the "chosen". All that you have to do is look at the past and see the groups that the religious right has waged war on. In this country it has been the Native Americans(when we first arrived here), abolitionist, women's suffrage and equality groups, civil rights groups and now gays. Religious people have supported many of these groups in the past, in fact abolitionist were made of up many religious people, but never "right wing" conservative religious people.

The right wing religious leaders only stop hating a group when society makes it impracticable to continue (such as the civil rights fight of the 60's). That time is coming for gay people. Soon society will not put up with the right wing religious hatred of gay people. Then who will the religious right turn their war machine on? I assume Arab Americans. If so, good luck my Arab American friends. I hope you fare better than we in the gay community have.
