Is there protest value to delaying tax payments?
I was thinking that I would wait until the very last minute (4/15) to pay taxes, because I want to give the government less time to invest my money in their death games.

But then, I thought, it's basically no trouble to get an extension (3 month I believe, could be wrong), and delay my payment even further. Of course, this is in the case of owing taxes as opposed to getting a refund, which is my lot.

Would this form of protest on a large scale really make any difference? I would imagine that it would be purely symbolic. Any opinions?

1. Interest
If you owe money, keep it in your account until 4/15 and collect the interest on it. If you are getting a refund, file as early as possible and deprive the Feds of collecting the interest.

2. I thank that is a great ideal, I hope many follow behind you

I hate all that this admin has come to represent so any action which slows them down is a welcome thought to me. I hope it ripples clear across our nation one voice at a time.

3. someone correct me if i am wrong, but...
i believe that if you OWE taxes, you still need to have the payment in by 4-15. You can delay filing, but the payment is still due and you owe interest on payments due on 4-15 but paid at a later date.

6. You are correct, and...
under some circumstances, there may also be penalties assessed.

5. What would be better is to work it so you don't owe any taxes
give it to the Red Cross or such instead even if it comes out to be more.
If you are owed a refund fill out a new W-4 so only as much or less than what you owe is withheld.

the money that you pay in taxes all goes to programs that you support.

But still don't send in the check til 4/15
