So, when WILL low-income republican voters finally wise up and realize...
...that they are being stabbed in the back by the very people they are voting for? How long will the con on them last before they wake up? The people working for paychecks and shopping at Wal-mart, who are "Proud to be an american where at least I know I'm free" and think that Fox news is "fair and balanced" and that spinach salad is an "exotic" dish. The people that have to work 2 jobs just to afford rent, and yet vote for Republicans. When will they wake up and realize what is being done to them, and what will make them wake up?

1. I've been wondering that all my life
So far, the Republicans are winning the war for their hearts and minds. They've done this by controlling the media.

The whole thing proves how easy it is to manipulate millions of people if you control the media.

15. No, they'd blame the "Democraps"..............
Rush would tell them why it's the Democrats' fault and they'd buy every word of it. We'll never reach them. They're mostly uneducated, very religious and seem to love being told what to do. Creative thinking is not their strong suit.
I hate generalizing like this, but it's pretty much accepted fact. Bush appeals to voters without much education and who go to church regularly (although Bush doesn't). The Republicans desperately want to perpetuate this situation, hence their loathing of education. Unless you're rich. Then you can go to College and help control the poor later in life as a Republican. It's a great system they have. :eyes:

If DUers can make congress sit up and listen, I'm sure we can formulate a media echo chamber to rival the RW controlled MSM.

I know someone who lives in a low income apartment where the rent is cheaper and I always see this S.U.V. w/ a Bush/Cheney sticker on it. I wonder, are they playing the system or are they really poor? Either way, I find it quite amusing because they are either scam artists or are setting themselves up to be crushed.

IMHO, bin Laden will hit in a known weakness like the ports or air cargo. And when that is pointed out, * will be lower in the polls than he is now around 48%

23. I think it would have the opposite effect...
People already in thrall to the "Bush makes us Safer" brigade, will throw what's left of their freedoms into the waiting arms of the administration and insist (violently) that we do the same. Martial law will be declared "for the duration" which will be for as long as the Republican Reich is in power.

there is and article on LBN about people standing by their choice. You may be right if Bush won by 52% but I think he lost by 49%

9. They still think they got tax cuts
Even though the revenue shortfall cut block grants to their states and made all their state and local taxes go up, especially the regressive ones.

They still think they got a tax cut from Reagan, who set high rates on labor into stone while hiking FICA six times and putting their overpayments into the general fund.

They still think they're middle class, even though they fall farther behind every year and are now charging up those credit cards for food and clothing.

I don't think anything will get through to those poor dopes until it all comes crashing down around their ears.

The sad part is that it will, and it will take the rest of us along with them.

19. There's a lot of truth to that..................
they feel so rotten about their own lives they need someone to look down on and feel superior to. Thing is, those that they look down on have one thing they'll never have. Integrity and pride. It doesn't pay much, but it sure makes you feel good about yourself.

25. Thats somewhat old thinking
The racial aspect is going away fast. I know more Pukes that love the Florida Cubans and other ethnics that are leaking to the GOP. Even Mexicans. And fundie preachers are making alliances with Jewish leaders. Theyre needed to keep power. Interracial marriage is making it more and more moot, also.

The new faultline is more around gender than race. Look at the last election, and what was the hot button ballot issue??? Beating up GLBT people has replaced "dark---s" their fantasies.

16. I don't think they will
They have to believe in something and they keep being told that the American dream is within their grasp. What they don't realize is those from a lowly start who have "made good" got their leg up in the past from the very things that the Republicans would like to remove.

20. The repubs
that I have talked to don't even watch the news. Now mind you these are the people in Ohio that elected shrub. I am surrounded by them here. One said..Kerry's gonna raise taxes so I'm voting for Bush (this person makes under 35K per year) Then the others think and I emphasize think they are in the upper 3%. They are some strong minded people who will never wake up.

I figure it'll take something really drastic to happen and somehow they'll blame it on Clinton.

27. As long as their lives are not greatly disturbed probably never.
Massive cuts in programs and great financial suffering might move some people. Apparently they can rationalize torture and an unjust war so more killing and torture isn't going to move them. Some kind of mass psychosis has them in their grip and until there is some great awakening I am not holding my breath for any huge changes.
