Poll question: Which name is best for a new breed of activist site? |
|
If you have not read this post: http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=show_mesg&forum=104&topic_id=2923295&mesg_id=2923295please do so, to understand what I am talking about. This is a new site with the purpose of concentrating liberal/progressive activists on a single subject at a time, rather than trying to fight multiple battles on multiple fronts. 1. Gee, I would have thought |

that voting in a poll would kick it, but apparently not.

3. Blue Hammer may be a problem |
|
Online site names are always shortened in references and being a bunch of hams might defeat the purpose.

You'll just get combined with a blue sickle and accused of communism. You'll get drug through the mud anyway, but you don't need to make it THAT easy for them.

Blue for dems, something else for focusing on creating change.
Of the 3 choices above, bluehammer.
Another idea:
blueSmith: the person who wields the hammer and anvil to create.
If there can be blacksmiths, silversmiths, goldsmiths, and locksmiths, there can be bluesmiths. ;-)

I like the idea of it being the igniting point, like bluefuse - no wait, that's not good....;) I like bluestrike too.
You didn't ask for suggestions but I don't really like any in the poll. As a marketing professional I like the 'k' sound and the two-syllable impact of bluenukes, but nukes will turn off a lot of the people you want to reach.
I read the other thread and I like your proposal.

A force such as this cannot be stopped by a gaggle of sensitive wimps. To fight them one has to be as daring and as "in your face" as they are.

----------------------------------------------------------------- Black Friday - The name given to October 26th, 2001, the day George W. Bush signed the "USA Patriot Act" which marked the end of the United States as a democratic republic, and its emergence as a police state. The only senator to oppose the bill was Russ Feingold, a Wisconsin senator, who was assassinated 5 years later by agents of the Homeland Security Office for "seditious criticism of the State."

Just like you described its purpose.
If you want a more dynamic, high-tech name, that is also inherently descriptive, then perhaps:
BlueLaser - coherent light focused on a single point
Don't like BlueNuke at all. Totally non-descriptive, destructive and excessive.
