Check it out here.

I'm guessing this will get some coverage on one of the CSPAN channels.

6. Roemer looks Repug to me now....Webb is talking about
getting into Bush's face. I like that language. And it wouldn't hurt to let a black person take a swing at it....if they really took a swing, I think we'd see some life in the party.

Dean would accomplish the same thing...bring life to this bunch of corpses we have as a party.

7. Dean looked best to me, but I'm biased.
Edited on Sun Jan-09-05 07:54 PM by Telly Savalas
Webb stuck out in my mind too. All of them hammered on the theme of regionalizing the party, which sounded good. In fact none of them sounded too bad. What was it about Roemer that rubbed you wrong? (I'm not trying to pick a fight here. Other than Dean my impressions of these guys is based pretty much solely on the tail end of the CSPAN broadcast, so I'm well aware I don't have the full picture.)

Edited to add: Thanks, Tweed, for bringing the broadcast to our attention.

Watch the whole thing and pay close attention to Roemer. I cannot believe Pelosi is pushing him.

37. He sounds "spin doctored", full of cliches. Not genuine. Like a GOPer
Dean sounded authentic, real, and committed to succeeding because of his core beliefs.

He's just so darn real.

38. I thought Roemer sounded sort of smarmy.
He's pretty slick...I like a blunt talker...the DNC Chair will be debating Mehlman, & he's a knife.

10. Rosenberg did well.
But I read something about him today--something about how he thought the war was a "good idea"--and that was disappointing.

16. Is Rosenberg the one who has links to Scaife or am I thinking
Edited on Sun Jan-09-05 08:56 PM by Gloria
of someone else????? Please inform me!

Yeah, he talks well...but I read those comments about the war and I sensed we wouldn't be moving off the page we're on now with him as DNC Chair.

Donnie Fowler looks goofily young and doesn't speak that well.

Roemer...knowing some of his positions makes me biased toward him. But he does remind of some Republican from past years, I can't pinpoint it. He just feels "sneaky" to me. His eyes. I don't think he's present a good TV persona.

Dean is my first choice.

20. I doubt it was Rosenberg.
Roemer is clearly ready to capitulate, which is something that I refuse to do. It would be suicide to put him in the DNC chair position.

There's a difference between welcoming many into the party and capitulation. I definitely sniffed the latter in Roemer.

Have you seen the forum? It's on CSPAN again now--it started at 9:00 eastern.

Edited on Sun Jan-09-05 08:17 PM by janx
but all of the other candidates just repeated what Dean has been saying for years. There was mention of:

1. state and local control
2. God, guns, and gays
3. reclaiming the flag
4. 50- state strategy
5. grassroots emphasis
5. and more that I can't remember

he's an okay guy - tended to do a tad too much of the nepotisim thing and was always getting busted for it.

he does not inspire me like the good Dr.

30. Dean is so refreshingly direct.
Forget women's "outreach." Put a woman in an appropriate position of power and watch what happens. The same holds true for any "disenfranchised" group of people. Give someone qualified the responsibility, and then watch what happens!

Rosenberg, Roemer, Dean, Webb, Fowler, Leland (? can't remember his name!), Frost.

Dean's cleaning up. Rosenberg is not far behind. Webb is stable and steady. Roemer is scary and seems to want to capitulate to the religious right. Fowler comes off as very young and salesmanlike. Frost is good, but dry. Leland (?) is good but about as exciting as watching paint dry, for some reason.

29. Thanks! This is pretty good
I think I might be getting on the Dean bandwagon. I get the impression that he would light a fire under the party. They are all making some good points, though. I find it disgusting that there are parts of the country that can't vote for President! I might start a separate thread about that, because that is NOT democracy! We talk about bringing democracy to Iraq, but when is somebody going to bring democracy to America?

36. If we get rid of
the electoral college, your vote will count! Of course, allowing all people to vote and bringing true democracy to America will be fought tooth and nail by the right-wing in the name of "tradition".
