But this is a call to every Mom in this country. Everybody has a Mom or was born to a Mom. It's time for Moms to make their mark in history. Spread the word to all the Moms.

Talk to your children. Make them promise that they will go to the polls next election. Nobody can influence their children as much as Mom. When George W Bush is beaten in a landslide, we don't want them to say "soccer Moms" or "security Moms" - we just want Moms that care about this country. It's time to slap these arrogant assholes down. And the Moms of this nation are the ones to do it. Spread the word.

1. I remember

my Mom and Dad sometimes letting me go into the voting booth with each of them on Voting Day. I had to be really young, since I can't remember who they voted for, but I do remember Mom telling me to pull the lever. Then the curtain opened, and we left. It was fun.

5. Last election

my oldest had gone off to college. I sent e mail after e mail to get registered. He kept putting it off. He called me that night to tell me he had felt so guilty he had driven home, about 1 1/2 hour to vote then drove immediately back. I was so proud of him. My youngest will get to vote in this next one. He can't wait. I am damn sure Bush* won't be getting any votes from this family.

I'm not in favor of mandatory voting mind you, but I think the business community bears some responsibility in supporting and encouraging the system that allows them to operate in the first place.

How's this for an idea: You take time during the day to do your civic duty. At the polling place, they give you a receipt when you're done. You take the receipt to work and show your boss. No receipt, no pay.

Simple solution.
