This is something that would receive HUNDREDS OF THOUSANDS of votes (if not more). It's a wee bit harder to manipulate a poll that receives that many votes.

Internet polls are self-selecting and therefore, no matter how many people vote, they're invalid and for entertainment only. Ask a statistician. MM deserves better and would have done fine with the Gallup poll they used to use.

Congrats, Michael Moore. I love you MM, and look forward to many more great documentaries. Congrats also Martin Sheen for being a great guy and president. Freepers sunk low making fun of Sheen's teeth in the above thread. Big deal, he a great actor and activists, so who cares about teeth? Also, Freepers, stop calling MM a fat slob, just cos that's the worst you can say about him and you can't stand him telling the truth about your dictator. Mel Gibson's film was definitely a snuff flick and didn't deserve it.

|
I'm very glad Fahrenheit got People's Choice, but I'm not prepared to totally dismiss The Passion as a film. Following the format of traditional Passion plays, I thought it was well executed, very raw and jarring as it should be, and it was pretty bold to render the dialogue in Latin and Aramaic. I'm an unaffiliated agnostic myself, so it probably doesn't touch me quite the way it does others, but I was pretty favorably impressed.

|
Edited on Mon Jan-10-05 12:29 AM by American Tragedy
because it was the language of travel, commerce, and literature, and it was widely studied, a little like English is today. However, it was not the native tongue of any of the major figures in the Bible, and they would not have used it in the events of The Passion. Jesus and the Jews of Palestine spoke Aramaic, which was later displaced by a cognate Semitic language, Arabic. The Romans spoke Latin, the classical tongue that desperately clings for dear life with high school teachers and professors everywhere. Both languages would have been taught in local schools for the sake of mutual intelligibility.

that still does the mass in Latin, like a before Vatican II thing. Very strict Catholic. That's why. He talked about it in several interviews.

I applaud Gibson for having to balls to make such a film particularly the use of the languages was unheard of. Well made movie whatever youre beliefs. I watched it as a former christian now pagan and I found that I was able to watch it with more objectivity than I thought I would. Only thing I didn't like was the cheesy satan segments and the weird demon things attacking Judas. I liked the temptation in the garden scene but the scene where Mary is apparently racing the devil to get to the cross I thought was cheesy.

Well if the freeptards had posted to PCA's website with the same veracity as their POS freeper website, then maybe their favorite movie would have had a ghost of a chance of trouncing F/911.
