1. I so want to believe
I so want to believe his numbers will go down, but I'm afraid they'll go up. So, I chickened out.

3. People are losing their jobs, their homes, their life - the numbers
should definitely go down. If you can't put food on your family as the resident once said you won't have enough energy to cheer the chimp on!

4. I agree. . .
a small bump, followed by a greased slide as the reality of what he proposes sinks in, and the realization that he lied to the nation to lead it into war becomes inescapable. There's Civil War in Iraq's immediate future and the potential for an invasion by the Turks looms as well. It's in the interests of far too many third parties to have the US bogged down and humiliated for any of the troubles to ease anytime soon.

7. A temporary "up" in the polls
Always happens, even after a criminally incompetent president speaks. Will fall very quickly, though.

11. Public Opinion is slow
the decay of * is a big slow movement. No speech is going to change the reality of the war and havoc left in his path.

13. They'll inch up,
but they'll fall right back down. Another war could save him, if only he hadn't destroyed his credibility with this one.
