If Tim Roemer wins the DNC charimanship |
|
this party is dead
I have been a life long democrat, but the shift for the last four plus years has shown there is little difference between the pugs and the democrats who want to control the party

2. If Roemer wins it will mark the |
|
final plunge of the Democratic party into permanent minority status. It will be good news for the Greens, though. The Green Party will really begin to poll in the high numbers once all of the progressives have been turned out of the Dem Party.

5. It would be another squandered opportunity |
|
to choose a Democrat over a Republican. Roemer opposes a woman's right to choose? Some folks just shrug that off, apparently like it didn't mean anything.

6. I am o.k. with Reid as minority leader.... |
|
So far I think he has done a decent if not stellar job, and I've been able to look past some of his positions (pro-life in particular) and give benefit of the doubt. I think it shows us also as being above the fray (Let's see the repubs nominate a pro-choice guy as majority leader).
But Roemer leading the DNC is not something I'd go for.

To whom does it show this? Hell, the Republicans would just love for us to make Zell Miller the Minority Leader! The idea seems to be that if the Democrats can become just a little more like Republicans, we can get a few million voters to "swing" our way "next time". I simply cannot understand this reasoning. No offense, not a flame, just why would anyone choose the Democratic party over the Republicans, if on the major issues the two parties are nearly identical? Also, for every rightist vote you glean by going right, you will lose two or more leftist votes. I really don't see the beneffit...

9. I don't think Reid is that bad..... |
|
I don't see him advocating changing the party platform or anything of that nature. I like how he's handled a few things so far.
My point is I'm for inclusiveness when it doesn't get in the way of the party platform or direction, and I've seen nothing from Reid that leads me to believe it is or will.
Roemer gives me every impression that he WOULD impose his positions on the direction of the party.

11. O.k, i see what you are saying. |

The jury is still out on Reid, as far as I am concerned. I just don't know enough about him. Is he a "Clinton" Democrat?

12. I don't know...but he seems to have some fight in him... |
|
..at least from what I've seen on various talk shows and political chat shows, which fortunately are unfortunately is where a lot of this crap is won and lost.
The only issue Reid seems to be out of the party mainstream on is abortion but like I said it doesn't seem to get in the way of his job as minority leader.
Roemer is just unappealing on any number of issues and would have more influence on the direction of the party.

saying all along. ....."shown there is little difference between the pugs and the democrats who want to control the party"
Little difference at all. The chance for the Dems to stand up and contest the Ohio vote and none but one could do it. Just another little tidbit I'm going to remember for future reference.
