Box office surprises Fahrenheit 9/11, Passion win at People's Choice Awards

The Michael Moore film Fahrenheit 9/11, which took a critical look at U.S. President George W. Bush (news - web sites)'s actions after the Sept. 11, 2001, attacks, won the favourite movie award, while Mel Gibson (news)'s explicit The Passion of the Christ won in the favourite drama category.

5. Sure does.
A lot of the winners could have been selected by fundies (per my fundie cousin's taste), including "Desperate Housewives". Think they don't go for "Desperate Housewives" & "CSI"? Think again.

3. People's Choice
Seems to me that the voters/audience of the People's Choice awards would be more from red states than blue, so maybe there is hope after all.

6. My theory
We all know there was a massive fundie campaign to freep the People's Choice awards through their online poll.

My guess is that people went there just to vote for Passion of The Christ, and just clicked on the other choices at random, because they weren't familiar with the other categories, and they didn't care anyway.

So, that would mean while Moore v Gibson was a horse race, the other categories may as well have been chosen by the Magic 8 Ball.
