What would drive America to a scond civil war? |
|
Just curious.
Not an ideological civil war, we've had that for 20-some years. I mean where the people fight amongst themselves to bloody death.
It wouldn't get that far because the entertainment industry has turned the bulk of the people into sheep.
I promise I won't do anything evil with the information obtained, I'm just curious!
Thanks!

have been predicting one since Waco.
Culture war or red/blue America goes violent....because they aren't going to take this pinko/commie/liberal/democrat stuff any more. Etc.
But when Elian went back to Cuba without a peep....I figured it was all talk after all.
Haven't seen anything to change that since.
Just more armchair belligerance.

3. oppressive government that stems from the destruction of the middle class |
|
I think that the current trend will result in a rebellion in a few decades. I also think that the current platform of the Democratic Party is a good one and can reverse the trend if implemented.
Note, it's this same destruction of the middle class (or lack thereof) that causes rebellions in every country.

6. yes, a war over economics is the first thing that comes to my mind, also |
|
...but possibly there might be a war about ideology. I can see a far-right-wing fanatic who's a great leader mobilizing a mass of people to try to secede and create a nation according to their princples: anti-abortion, anti-gay, christian, anti-hollywood, etc.
Along the lines of Atwood's "Handmaid's Tale."

4. It would have to be pretty astounding, that's for sure |
|
Seeing as how we've tolerated the trashing of democracy in 2000, trashing of the constitution in 2001, trashing of the economy in 2002, and trashing of any semblance of internationalism in 2003, there doesn't seem to be much that gets the masses riled up these days.
It would have to be something both religious and outrageously anti-constitutional.
I suppose a federal law either banning or establishing a woman's right to control reproduction would do it, but that's about as likely as a winged pig flying out my ass. Along that line, something which banned or established a particular religion would probably be adequate, or maybe a total ban on gun ownership.
It's hard to say. We like our creature comforts here, and wars are notoriously uncomfortable. Most folks are so out of the civic loop it's beyond funny; overall, we'd rather cheer on a football team of multi-millionaire athletes than wage a campaign for social justice.

7. I sometimes wish the Northeast would secede |
|
the GNP of NYC alone must be staggering. But we are all Americans, and despite cultural differences, I prefer to remain so.

8. The big task before the USA is the destruction of the middle class |
|
and the signifigant lowering of living standards as globalization kicks in and jobs move offshore.
Not an immediate thing, a long term thing,
So its managing this destruction of living standards & the movement of large blocks of the population to subsistence levels that is the task before the elites of the America.
And to do this without violence or political consequences.
I dont see a civil war in he offing unless we move into serious economic crisis the way latin american countrys have, on occasion, or like what happened during the "Asian contagion" in SE Asia.
The result wouldnt be civil war but old fashioned repression ...calling out the national gaurd or regular army to put down unrest. Its happened before in US history.
