DeLay blames tsunami victims
At the Tuesday Congressional prayer breakfast, our charming Tom DeLay seemed to blame the tsunami on the faithless victims who have not embraced Christianity.

Over at American Coprophagia the whole sad tale is recounted.

When I read this I thought about Trent Lott at the Strom Thurmond dinner and wonder if DeLay hasn't stepped into it big time.

What say you?

Spread this story far and wide!

2. Oh, the irony.
GOP members like DeLay and Santorum and G.W. Bush go prancing about telling us what good Christians they are, how compassionate, and yet they do amazingly cruel, selfish and un-Christlike things, like trying to smear honorable people, put more burdens on the poor, etc. Does DeLay even know what he read?

From the link above:

"Saith DeLay:

'A reading of the Gospel, in Matthew 7:21 through 27.

"Not every one who says to me, 'Lord, Lord,' will enter the kingdom of heaven; but only the one who does the will of my Father in heaven.

"Many will say to me on that day, 'Lord, Lord, did we not prophesy in your name? Did we not drive out demons in your name? Did we not do mighty deeds in your name?'

"Then I will declare to them solemnly, 'I never knew you: depart from me, you evil doers.'"

"Everyone who listens to these words of mine, and acts on them, will be like a wise man, who built his house on a rock:

"The rain fell, the floods came, and the winds blew, and buffeted the house, but it did not collapse; it has been set solidly on rock.

"And everyone who listens to these words of mine, but does not act on them, will be like a fool who built his house on sand:

"The rain fell, the floods came, and the winds blew, and buffeted the house, and it collapsed and was completely ruined."

"He finishes reading, says nothing more, and sits back down.

"A wise man.

"A foolish man."

7. DeLay is the closest thing to Satan that I can ever remember experiencing.
If there is such a thing as Satan, Tom DeLay must constitute it in some way.

9. maybe these assholes should pay more attention to this part:
Not every one who says to me, "Lord, Lord," will enter the kingdom of heaven; but only the one who does the will of my Father in heaven.

Many will say to me on that day, "Lord, Lord, did we not prophesy in your name? Did we not drive out demons in your name? Did we not do mighty deeds in your name?

10. my fundi brother said pretty much the same thing
He said "I hope they knew Jesus before they died".

I replied: "What's the point in knowing Jesus when you refuse to live strictly by what he teaches?"

Lots of fundies know Jesus and live in complete opposition to what he lays down as the law for living as a believer. They chase and serve money--they're not supposed to. They support and advance the agenda of known liars, cheats and thieves, but expect that to be overlooked because "they're not perfect, just forgiven".

Yeah--and pride goes before destruction and a haughty spirit before the fall, too.

12. Compassionate Conservatism
Apparently means, "Well, its their fault for living in an area that might get hit by a Tsunami, and we shouldn't care about their deaths because they weren't Christian."

16. KICK this up!
I would love to see DeLay chased out of town on a rail!
If somehow this story could get picked up by the national media, it would do a lot to tarnish his halo.

So, please, let's try to move this into the mainstream.
