The bible thumpers vs. the working class. It could be a brawl for the ages.

1. I'd liketo see
thousands and thousands of people, dressed in orange, quietly turn their backs on Bush as he drives by in the inauguration parade.

3. Me too
I'm not picky. Have you seen the group that wants to sue over the crosses? I can just imagine how that's going to go.

7. I don't care what they're wearing
I just hope Bush's motorcade goes down a road lined on both sides by turned backs.

4. I hope not.
The working class will be arrested and the Bible thumpers will crow about God's will and God being on the side of the righteous.

Silent, Ghandi-like protests would be better. Since the media isn't reporting on civil unrest, getting hurt for nothing is counter-productive.

5. Yes, violence always solves our problems.
All of humanity's great leaders promoted violence.

6. I also have to go on record as not supporting violence...
and surely not relishing in it. As another poster proposed...Gandhi and MLK-type protests are the way to garner support.

8. No -- the cops are waiting for any excuse to murder a few
protesters.

It is always best to take a peaceful route. To find a peaceful means to protest -- even then the cops will probably become violent -- and the cops will riot.

I've seen the aftermath of cops rioting and beating peaceful protesters -- Free Speech movement in Berkeley -- and People's Park in Berkeley. Then at college campuses in California -- thanks to Governor RayGun who hated college students.

The bush gang probably already has spies planted in all groups who MIGHT show in to protest -- and they will probably encourage violence (based on past history of the Nixon era thugs who are now part of the bushie crime administration).

The bible thumpers will always be the "victims" -- even they are also the working class.

10. I guess I envisioned it a different way.
This may have well been a Lounge post. I was thinking more along the lines of the tolerant "Christians" attacking the protesters with their crosses. Oh well.

11. So you are advocating violence?
Yea, nothing like trying to spread the 'stop the war' message like a little violence! Good grief...

12. I am worried about violence against our folk, though. I can see
some serious abuse against our crowd happening, for sure. x(

17. I don't plan to.
And neither should anyone else. I was making a joke gone bad. Are you a bible thumper or a protester?

18. It would be great to see a BIG riot on a REGULAR basis
No violence, no burning of flags - just thousands of people mixing it with cops and making their voices heard. No matter how self-evident it may be that Bush is destroying the Constitution, intellectual arguments are best made by physical means. That's the way we stopped the war in Vietnam.
