Democrats we're proud of
I'd like to hear from all of you the names of politicians who make you glad you call yourselves Democrats, or at least to vote for them.
For me, I still love Ted Kennedy, even with his appetites.

8. All of the above plus
Edited on Mon Jan-10-05 08:00 PM by Qutzupalotl
my representative Peter DeFazio and Sen. Ron Wyden.

And Barbara Boxer about a million times over. :loveya:

and Stephanie Tubbs Jones!! :bounce:

and Robert Byrd! and John "Ironballs" Conyers!

I'm also partial to Wesley Clark--he's a great explainer and has a good moral compass and understanding of foreign policy.

I'm proud of what Clinton was able to accomplish despite having a hostile congress. He was persuasive.

And, of course, Dennis Kucinich, Jimmy Carter, Howard Dean, Al Gore...and the spirit of Paul Wellstone.

15. The Congressional Black Caucus
everyone of them but especially

Maxine Waters, John Conyers, Cynthia McKinney, Stephanie Tubbs-Jones

Dennis Kucinich
Barbara Boxer
Ted Kennedy
Al Sharpton
Bob Graham
Howard Dean
Senator Stabenow can't think of her first name but loved her speech on the 6th
Robert Wexler

and I'm especially proud of Janet Reno - I think she and Dennis Kucinich have the most integrity of any politicians I have ever been aware of - and she was treated so disrespectfully while she was AG.

I know I missed several but these are the ones who come to mind right now.

16. Carol Mosley Braun
I had the pleasure to meet her when she spoke on behalf of a Democratic Senate candidate. She's an impressive, intelligent woman. Most politicians (of any stripe!) I'd hate to have to sit down with for more than 5 minutes. I think I could have spent an entire evening talking with Carol.

Nancy Pelosi (for the most part).

And that's just U.S. Congress. California has lots of good women elected at all levels. They're almost all great...except for Mary Bono.
